Brian Good thinks we're in for a ton of points in Seattle on Sunday

New York Jets vs. Seattle Seahawks Predictions

  • Seattle allows the most passing yards per game (309.8 yards)
  • The Jets allow the 2nd most passing yards per game (291 yards)

I’m staying about as far away from this spread as humanly possible. The Seahawks seem to love to play down to their competition, failing to cover against the Eagles two weeks ago before losing outright to the Giants last week. On top of that, the Jets are, for the first time all season, not playing terrible football. It's 13.5 as of now and that seems like far too much.

I could see this being a one-posession game or I could see the Jets traveling across the country and laying an egg, so I’m going to focus on the total in this game.

Seattle, after starting the season scorching hot on offense, is coming into Sunday against the Jets averaging just 21 points per game, but I think they turn it around this week. The Jets have held the opposing team under 30 points just once since November 1, and it came in a 20-3 whooping at the hands of the Dolphins.

This is the week the Seattle offense gets back on track, especially since the Jets just fired defensive coordinator Gregg Williams following last week’s collapse against the Raiders.

Luckily for New York, and us, Seattle’s defense is the worst in the entire NFL and even New York is going to be able to score points. In the last three weeks, the Jets have averaged 19.67 points per game, which may not seem like a lot but it's a full touchdown more than they were scoring early in the year.

This total is anywhere from 45.5 to 47 in most places, and I’d honestly be comfortable with either number. I think the Jets have at least 20 points in them this week and the Seahawks may flirt with 40 as they get the offense back rolling.
