Sam Farley is back to break down Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers this Sunday
ANALYSIS

Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers Predictions

  • Both teams are 7-5 against the spread

As you can read above, both of these teams are 7-5 against the spread and there are very few trends which give us a lead in this one. Carolina will need to win by over 3.5 points in order to cover here.

Denver have been a hot mess this year. Excluding the Saints game because they had a threadbare quarterback room they've been in fairly close games recently. Last time out they lost by 6 points to the Kansas City Chiefs but it's key to remember that this felt like it was the Chiefs who dropped the ball and not a great performance by the Broncos.

I'm not a believer in this Broncos offense and Drew Lock has struggled to find consistency this year and likewise, Jerry Jeudy has been a let down and failed to become the alpha receiver, even with Courtland Sutton on IR for the majority of the year.

That's why I have to put my money on the Panthers here even with Christian McCaffrey currently unlikely to play. They are under no rush to bring him back and with playoffs basically a non-starter it may be a wise idea to just sit him for the rest of the year.

I love what Matt Rhule has done with this team, despite being 4-8 they've shown some real glimpses of talent in a tough division and amid injury problems. There's plenty to build upon going forward but this Sunday alone I think they have the talent, even without CMC, to put away a struggling Denver team.

The key here is offense and Denver have only scored 225 points all season, the second worst in the league behind the New York Jets. When it comes down to it I think Carolina have the potential to cause Denver seriously problems on both sides of the ball.
