Brian Good doesn't love the spread in the Atlanta Falcons vs. Los Angeles Chargers game, but he's got his eyes on the total

Atlanta Falcons vs. Los Angeles Chargers Predictions

  • The Chargers allow opponents to score 28.8 points per game

I’m not entirely sure what to expect in terms of an outcome here. Both these teams have looked great at times this season and god awful at others. However, I do think we’ll see a fair amount of points, so I’ll take the over.

The Chargers’ defense has gotten lit up this year. They allow 28.8 points per game, good for 27th in the NFL. Atlanta hasn’t been much better, they give up 25.2 points per game to opposing offenses.

The number being under 50 here is a little bit of a shock. I get it, the last time we saw the Chargers they were busy getting shutout against New England. Admittedly, that’s not exactly the kind of performance that instills confidence as a bettor, but I’m going to look at the body of work instead of just last week.

Justin Herbert is a good QB that is on his way to being great. The Chargers have plenty of weapons around him and they’re playing back at home again. I think this is a good spot for a get-right game for LA. I really like the chances of Herbert putting up big numbers against a below-average Atlanta defense.

As far as the Atlanta offense is concerned, everyone scores points against the Chargers, no matter who they are.

Last week, a borderline bad New England offense put up 45 points and could have scored more if they wanted. In their last nine games, the fewest points they’ve allowed is 27, so if they turn in their best defensive performance in recent memory we’re still over halfway to 49.

Realistically, I think both teams can get to the 30s on Sunday. No one is going to bother playing defense, and I’m ready to take advantage.
