- The Texans are 4-9 against the spread this season
About two weeks ago, it looked like the Texans had turned the corner. Following a 1-6 start to the season, they had won three of their last four games and their only loss was to a good Browns team. But, the last two times we’ve seen Houston have erased all confidence that I had in them as a team.
Two weeks ago, they played this very same Colts team tough, but ultimately lost by six following a botched snap on their potential game-winning drive. Then last week they gave their most disappointing performance of the season, a 36-7 loss to an average Bears team led by a bad QB in Mitch Trubisky.
I don’t think this Texans team has any fight left in them. Nothing they’ve done the past two weeks has led me to believe they will come out sharp against a solid Colts team that boasts one of the best defenses in football. If they could only manage seven points last week, why will it be any better in Indianapolis on Sunday?
Houston is one of the worst teams in the entire NFL against the spread at 4-9. Only the Cowboys (3-10) have a worse record. Not only do they lose, they lose big.
Deshaun Watson has basically done all he can with the cast around him, but it’s not enough. Houston’s defense has been awful all season long. Coming into Week 15, they’re 30th in the league in defensive DVOA.
Meanwhile, the Colts have looked great of late. They completely dismantled the Raiders last week and most importantly they have one of the best records against the spread in the NFL at 8-5.
I wish this was 6.5 instead of the full seven, and I’ll keep an eye out to see if it moves, but there’s just no way I can bet on the Texans covering anything less than maybe 10 points in this game.

What a Week 15 we have in store. It's not a blockbuster week for the traditional primetime slots. Thursday Night Football gives us the Chargers at Raiders, Sunday Night Football is Browns at Giants and Monday Night Football sees the Steelers travelling into Cincy to face the Bengals. While those games may not be fantastic the fact we have two Saturday games. First up is Bills at Bengals, followed by Panthers at Packers. Outside of those games we have some interesting clashes elsewhere. The Seahawks enter Washington as favorites but it'll be a tough ask against a defense who are really coming into form. The Eagles are giving Jalen Hurts another chance to perform against the Cardinals in a battle between two former Sooners quarterbacks. We also have the Chiefs against the Saints. It's going to be a fun week of football.
