Sam Farley is back to break down Chicago Bears vs. Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday
ANALYSIS

Chicago Bears vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Predictions

  • The Bears have failed to cover in 6 of their last 7 games against AFC opponents

We've entered a strange time of year, one in which both sets of fans will be hoping for a Chicago Bears win. In fact, the only people wanting the Jaguars to win will be the players themselves. The Jags haven't won since their victory over the Colts on the first game of the season, and they're now in pole position of the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes.

Jacksonville welcome the Bears to town this week, who are sat on a 7-7 record and still ahave an outside chance of reaching the playoffs. With everything in mind, this is a game that the Bears should walk. Things don't always happen as they should in the NFL, as we saw when the Jets beat the Rams, and this game could provide another sting in the tail, in the Trevor Lawrence storyline.

Even though the Jaguars are set on a dreadful record, it's worth noting that they've actually been competitive in a number of games, and in a pure quality sense, are probably quite a lot better than the Jets, scoring around 5 points per game more than them.

I've not been sold on the Bears being good all year. They've let themselves down at the most important times and Mitchell Trubisky is still a mistake waiting to happen. The Bears should win this game but the Jaguars will run them close and keep it inside of a score. They've lost all three games to NFC North teams so far this year, but only the Jaguars loss to the Lions was a blowout. They held both the Packers and Vikings to within 4 points. Expect a narrow Bears win here, or even an upset. So take the Jags and the points.

It's a festive week and we have plenty of football to get stuck into. There's no Thursday Night Football this week but we have the Vikings travel to New Orleans to face the Saints on Christmas Day. Saturday gives us a triple threat of football to wager on. The Bucs can secure playoffs if they beat the Lions. Elsewhere the Dolphins face the Raiders and the 49ers play the Cardinals.

Sunday sees a number of matches with playoff implications, the Rams @ Seahawks being the most important. We'll also see the Jets and Jaguars play, with fans of the New Yorkers praying that Jacksonville wins and puts them back in the hotseat for Trevor Lawrence. The Titans face the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. Monday's game is a dead rubber in all reality, as the Bills travel to play the Patriots, with New England officially out of playoff contention.
