- The Rams have won their last 4 games against teams with a winning record
Arguably the most exciting game on the Sunday slate is this NFC West clash, between the LA Rams and the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams have shown real glimpses of talent this year, talent which puts them amongst the best in the NFC. Yet we have also seen some stupid mistakes and losses which damage their Super Bowl stock.
Last week saw one of those very losses as the Rams lost by 3 points to the New York Jets. The previously winless New York Jets. It was a low day for the franchise but they've got the opportunity to make things right with a statement divsional win.
Let's look at the two offenses. Seattle has the better QB, of that there is no doubt, but Russell Wilson's game has been poor of late, and he's elimanated himself from the MVP conversation, an award he almost had locked up, just one month ago. The Rams arguably have the better running game, especially now that Cam Akers has had a mini-breakout and appears to have seized the background. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are one of the best receiving duos in the league but Cooper Kupp of the Rams may be the most disrespected wideout in the league, an elite possesion receiever who really makes this team tick. All in all, we look fairly level on offense.
It's defense where the difference between the two teams become more stark. The Seahawks defense may have three players named on this year's Pro Bowl, but that seems like a huge error given while they've played well individually, the defense as a whole has been shocking this year. In the same amount of games we've seen the Seahawks give up an extra 70 points per game, an average of 5 points per game more.
The Rams' defense is elite. In Aaron Donald they have the best defensive player in football, if not overall player, and their secondary isn't far behind with Jalen Ramsey improving as the season has gone on. The Rams are a far better side defensively and they have the talent to not only lock down the Seahawks talent 1-2 punch receiving corp, but also elimate the Seahawks ground game, something which could push Wilson into more mistakes.
The teams last met in November, and we saw the Rams win by 7. I'm sure the margin of victory will be that late in Seattle, but they should cover here and in all honesty, I think they'll win outright too.
