Top Thursday Night Football Props To Bet: Buccaneers vs. Cowboys

After another long offseason filled with drama left and right within every NFL franchise, Week 1 of the NFL season is finally here! With sportsbooks dropping player prop lines for the opener over the last week we've dug up our favorite ones for the Bucs and Cowboys. For myself coming from a fantasy football background player props tend to be the bread and butter for NFL betting as these two correlate very strongly.

OJ Howard Receiving Yards Over 18.5 (-120)

Rob Gronkowski gets the headlines, but it was O.J. Howard that paced the Bucs Tight End room in passing-game usage prior to a season-ending injury in Week 4. Despite Gronk playing more snaps (212 to 125) and running more routes (87 to 58), Howard out-targeted him 19 to 14 in the first four weeks. Howard posted 11 catches, 146 yards, and 2 touchdowns. In the four games he was healthy he amassed 36,11,49. and 50 total receiving yards. The Cowboys allowed the 3rd lowest receiving yards to the tight end position last season but in a high scoring affair expected and a low total set by oddsmakers for Howard, he can top this number with just 1 catch. By all accounts, Howard has looked like he's shed any rust this summer, and he should enjoy a solid role in the game plan in the Week 1 showdown against the Cowboys.

Tampa Bay Buccanneers Wide Reciever TD Scorers

This Cowboys team may have the best offense in the NFL in 2021 but they also have a realistic chance of owning the worse defense at the same time. Last season the Cowboys allowed 27 touchdowns to wide receivers, the most in the NFL by 3. Tampa possesses a dynamic trio at the wide receiver position with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Antonio Brown.

At 6-foot-5 and having finished no lower than ninth in end zone targets every season of his career, Mike Evans will rarely be short on TDs. Consider that in 10 games with Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown, Evans led the trio with 73 targets. Evans reeled in 13 touchdowns over last season. I fully expect as well as the oddsmakers, Evans to find the endzone Thursday night. He is priced as low as (-125) at Bet365 and you can get him at even money (+100) at PointsBet to score.

One thing I will personally be wagering is for fellow wide receivers Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown to also score. Both of these guys finished off 2020 red hot and with the exploitable Cowboys defense in Week 1 I think at least one of these guys will join Mike Evans in the touchdown party. All we need is one of them to score to profit and I think all three have a realistic chance to do so.

Mike Evans is priced (+100) to score anytime.

Chris Godwin is priced (+140) to score anytime.

Antonio Brown is priced (+200) to score anytime.

Ezekiel Elliott Over 20.5 Receiving Yards (-120)

With Quarterback Dak Prescott healthy last season running back Ezekiel Elliott (Zeke) managed to top this number the first four weeks of the season. He totaled 31, 33, 24, and 71 receiving yards in those games. Last season the Bucs allowed the 9th most receiving yards to running backs mostly because of the reason I'm about to explain. The game script here calls for points with the total set on the higher side of 51.5 currently. The Cowboys are projected 21.5 points with oddsmakers favoring the Under at (-125). Oddsmakers price the Bucs team total at 30.5 points favoring the over at (-125). This calls for the Cowboys to be down at least two scores in this game leading them to need to most likely abandon the run by the fourth quarter and pass more frequently. Expect to see a few dump-down passes in the empty flats for Zeke to work this total over for us.
