Top Week 1 NFL Props To Bet: Green Bay Packers vs. New Orleans Saints

Week 1 of the NFL season is finally here! The NFL schedule makers wasted no time giving us a ton of can’t-miss matchups in the first week of the season. One of the games I’m most excited for is this Packers vs. Saints game. Unfortunately, it’s being played in Jacksonville as the city of New Orleans still tries to recover from the damage of hurricane Ida.

For the first time in almost 15 years the Saints will be without QB Drew Brees. How will Jameis Winston look under center as the starter? Here are my favorite player props from Packers vs. Saints.

Packers vs. Saints Players Props

Aaron Rodgers over 2.5 passing TDs @ +130

Not only is this my favorite prop of this game, it’s my favorite prop of the Week 1 slate. I can get Aaron Rodgers to throw over 2.5 TDs at plus odds? Sign me up.

Last season, Rodgers threw for at least three touchdowns in 12 of 16 regular season games. The Packers actually played the Saints early in last season and Rodgers went out and threw for 3 TDs in a 37-30 win.

If this was any other QB in the league, I may be concerned with the offseason turmoil that reportedly took place out in Green Bay. But, Rodgers is a professional. He has played his entire career in GB and a funky offseason isn’t enough to throw him off his game.

Expect Aaron Rodger to spread the ball around to Davante Adams, MVS, Aaron Jones and remember, Randall Cobb is back in Green Bay as well. Rodgers is the most talented QB in the NFL right now and he has tons of weapons at his disposal. I love this prop, especially at these odds.

Alvin Kamara over 106.5 rush+rec yards @ -115

Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if Kamara rushed for over 100 yards and had more than 100 in the passing game. Kamara is one of the two best dual-threat backs in the NFL. Saints head coach Sean Payton knows he needs to limit mistakes with Jameis Winston under center. Not only will he rely on Kamara to run the ball a decent amount to take pressure off Winston, I expect to see a ton of passing plays designed for Kamara, even more than when Brees was the QB.

Marquez Callaway and Deonte Harris are listed as the two starting WRs for the Saints this year with Michael Thomas on the PUP list. No offense to those two, they may still have a big game, but Kamara is the easy choice for Winston’s favorite target come Sunday afternoon.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling longest reception over 20.5 yards @ -110

Am I missing something? One of the biggest home run threats in football has his longest reception prop just over 20 yards? Sign me up.

Now, it’s important to remember that this is a real boom-or-bust pick. There is a chance that VS doesn’t even have a catch today. He has a tendency to disappear and Randall Cobb, Rodgers’ favorite target, is back. But, MVS averaged 20.9 yards per catch last season. That means, in theory, we would need one catch to make sure he has one of over 20 yards. Now, obviously that’s not how it works. But, there is a serious chance that we get multiple big shots to MVS and all he needs to do is come down with one of them.
