After a nice road win in New York, can the Broncos do it again against the Jacksonville Jaguars?
ANALYSIS

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Denver Broncos Week 2 Predictions: Against the Spread, Total, and Props

Neither the Jacksonville Jaguars nor Denver Broncos are very high on the list for teams expected to compete this year. For Denver, they’re fresh off a win over the New York Giants in their season opener.

Teddy Bridgewater was solid in his debut, and they did a good job of limiting the offense of the Giants. As for the Jacksonville Jaguars, it wasn’t the prettiest of performances from Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence in their debut.

Lawrence was forced to throw 51 times and while he had three touchdown passes to his name, he also had three interceptions and averaged a pedestrian 6.5 yards per attempt. In Week 2, they’ll need to protect Lawrence a little bit more and establish more of a rushing attack with Carlos Hyde and James Robinson.

Jacksonville Jaguars Preview

After an embarrassing performance against Hoston, Jacksonville heads home to take on the Denver Broncos. They were somehow favored on the road by three points last week but now find themselves as six-point underdogs.

The biggest thing for Jacksonville this week is don’t overwhelm your rookie signal-caller. Lawrence having to throw the ball over 50 times is just not a recipe for success at this level and Denver will likely provide a tougher defensive matchup as well.

Denver Broncos Preview

Last week, the Broncos had a ton of success on the ground. It was Melvin Gordon III who was the most effective rushing for 101 yards on just 11 carries (9.2 yards per carry). With 165 total yards on the ground, they may look to continue that against Jacksonville this week, who gave up the third-most rushing yards in the league last season.

Teddy Bridgewater was also effective at the QB position in his Broncos debut. He threw for 264 yards (7.3 yards per attempt) and had two passing touchdowns on the day for a 115.7 rating.

With Jerry Jeudy out for likely the next six weeks, expect Denver to get Courtland Sutton more involved in the offense. Tight End, Noah Fant was productive in Week 1 and has a chance to put up numbers again in Week 2 again with Jeudy sidelined.

Denver Broncos vs Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Preview

As one would imagine, the Jacksonville Jaguars haven’t been too kind to betters over the past couple of seasons. Since the start of 2020, they cover the spread at just a 41.2 percent clip. Denver on the other hand has been much better going 10-7 for a 58.8 cover percentage.

Denver has only been favored once since the start of 2020, and it was last week when they covered against the Giants. As for how they’ve done in conference games, they’re 8-4 ATS which is a 66.7 cover percentage.

With how Jacksonville played, I don’t know how anyone can have faith in them right now, even with getting six points at home. The Broncos should win and cover, and start the year a surprising 2-0 with Teddy Bridgewater playing well at the QB position.
