New York Jets vs. New England Patriots Week 2 Same-Game Parlay
A division matchup, that’s been owned by the New England Patriots has a new chapter beginning in 2021. Each team features a new rookie quarterback that their fanbase hopes is the answer long-term at the position.
In Week 1, both the Jets and Patriots are coming off of a loss but both teams liked what they saw from their young QB. For Wilson, after a slow start, he finished 20 of 37 for 258 yards and 2 passing touchdowns. He was sacked six times but made some big-time throws when he needed to for his team.
Mac Jones was steady against Miami, going 29 of 39 for 281 yards and a touchdown. He’ll look to replicate that performance at MetLife Stadium in Week 2.
Let’s take a look at a same-game parlay to make you some cash for this divisional matchup.
New England Patriots at the Half
Step one to this three-leg parlay is the Patriots leading at halftime. Last season, the Jets offense was the worst in the league at scoring in the first half. They averaged just 7.9 points in the first half. I understand it’s a new coach and quarterback but the slow start continued in Week 1 against Carolina when they were shut out in the first half.
They have a rookie play-caller in Mike LaFleur, it’s going to take some time for them to begin to get in a rhythm. Expect a low-scoring game, so there may not be very many points in this first half anyway (more on that in a second).
Under 42.5 Points
Hammer the under! Since the start of the 2020 season, the Pats are the second-best team at hitting the under in the NFL at 70.6 percent. The Jets aren’t too far behind at 58.8 percent at hitting the under over that span.
When considering that both of these teams have defensive-minded head coaches and a rookie quarterback, this one will likely be a tight low scoring game that favors the under even at a lower 42.5 number.
I’m not sold on the Jets winning the game, but I am sold on both teams not having much of an offense (at least for right now). This has 20-17 written all over it and if that’s the case, then of course the Jets would cover.
The Patriots in the post-Tom Brady era are 2-6 against the spread on the road and are 0-3 as road favorites. I understand people are down on the Jets but that 5.5 point number is just too big for me to pass up.
If all three of these hit, you’re looking at a +550 same-game parlay. That would be a nice win under your belt before the 4:00 pm slate even starts.
