For Thursday Night Football between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Cincinnati Bengals, Matt O'Leary gives you his same-game parlay pick.
ANALYSIS

Thursday Night Football Same-Game Parlay: Cincinnati Bengals vs Jacksonville Jaguars

The Cincinnati Bengals are off to a surprising 2-1 start with wins over the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers. They’ve done an excellent job defensively allowing just 30 points over their last two weeks.

As for their opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars are struggling big time. They sit at 0-3 and their rookie quarterback, Trevor Lawrence has seven interceptions through the team’s first three games of the season.

With this context in mind, I’ll try to make you some money with a same-game parlay. I have a three-leg parlay for you this week for Thursday Night Football.

Leg 1: Joe Burrow Over 199.5 Passing Yards

Bengals vs Jaguars Betting Odds

The Jacksonville Jaguars are not very good on defense, especially against the pass. They rank 28th in yards allowed through the air and have given up 289, 302, and 316 yards in their first three games of the season.

As for Joe Burrow, He’s coming off a sub-200 yard day but he was only asked to throw the ball 18 times. He still had a 9.56 yards per attempt in Week 3. On the season, he’s sitting at 8.5 yards per attempt so if he remains at that pace he only needs 24 passing attempts to hit that mark.

Considering Jacksonville’s secondary, and the fact that  Burrow has gone over 200 yards in 10 of 13 career starts, I feel pretty good about this one.

Leg 2: Bengals at the half

Bengals vs Jaguars Betting Odds

In both of their wins this year, the Cincinnati Bengals have led at the half and they’ve outscored their opponents 28-21 in the first half of games this year. Only once this season has Jacksonville led at the half and it was on that flukey end to the first half against Arizona last week.

With how the Bengals’ defense has been playing, they currently rank sixth in the league in points against, I’m confident in the Bengals getting a lead early and holding it for the first half. Plus, Lawrence has been an interception machine early on so that can’t help their cause on offense right now.

Leg 3: Bengals -7.5

Bengals vs Jaguars Betting Odds

The number may seem a touch high for a team like Cincinnati but to their credit, they are 2-1 ATS this year and have an ATS +/- of 7.2. Jacksonville is 0-3 ATS and straight up with an average margin of victory of -12.7.

They’re losing, and they’re losing big and I don’t see that changing this week. As an away team, the Jags are 4-5 ATS since the start of 2020 and have an average margin of victory of -11.1. At home, the Bengals have been excellent against the spread.

They’re 6-3 for a 66.7 cover percentage and as a home favorite, they’re 1-0 winning that game by eight points. Sorry Jacksonville, but I think it’s going to be a long night on Thursday. If all three legs of this same-game parlay hit, you’re looking at a +180 return.
