San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks: Top Anytime TD Scorer Bets
The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers meet in a key early-season NFC West battle. Oddsmakers suggest it should be a high-scoring game, as the over/under has been set at 51.5 points. With only four games having a higher point total than this one, there should be plenty of touchdowns scored, which means there is a lot of money to be made on the “anytime touchdown scorer” prop.
Per the Elias Sports Bureau, the 49ers are the first team in the modern NFL era (since 1970) to have their first 11 touchdowns scored by 11 different players. From a prop bet perspective, this could either be viewed as a logistical nightmare or a way to cast a wider net and give oneself a better opportunity to cash with more players.
The Seahawks rank 11th in total offense averaging 389 yards per game. Their passing offense behind Russell Wilson ranks ninth and is tied for the 11th-best rushing offense with 107.7 yards per game on the ground. Wilson has thrown touchdown passes to four different receivers (Tyler Lockett-3, DK Metcalf-2, Freddie Swain-1, Gerald Everett-1), while Chris Carson is the only Seahawks running back to score on the ground this year.
Who are our best bets to find the endzone in this NFC West showdown?
49ers vs. Seahawks Anytime Touchdown Scorer Picks
George Kittle (+135)
How is it possible that 11 different 49ers have scored touchdowns, but tight end George Kittle has not been one of them? Last week’s effort suggests Kittle is close after catching seven of nine targets for 92 yards. The number of catches, targets, and yards were all season-highs for Kittle. He seemingly benefited from the number of injuries in the 49ers backfield as San Francisco employed more of an aerial attack against the Packers. Kittle is second on the team to Deebo Samuel in nearly every receiving category, and he is too talented and too much of a weapon to not score a touchdown for a fourth consecutive week.
Kyle Juszczyk (+270)
The Seahawks defense has shown they are vulnerable against the run, as they rank 30th in the league allowing 155 rushing yards per game. Thus, bettors would be wise to get a 49ers running back on their “anytime touchdown scorer” betting card. San Francisco’s backfield depth chart is still a bit of an unknown, as Elijah Mitchell is questionable for this week after missing last week with a shoulder injury. Thus, instead of guessing at how carries will be doled out among a possibly healthy Mitchell and Trey Sermon, we take a flier on Juszczyk, who found the endzone for the first time last week. Juszczyk handled a surprising five carries and caught four passes for 37 yards last week. Head coach Kyle Shanahan loves using Juszczyk in short-yardage situations, and who cannot envision him plunging in from one yard away after Deebo Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk draws a pass interference penalty in the endzone?
DK Metcalf (-115)
This is our chalkiest pick of the three, but one that has to be made given the need to back at least one Seahawks player. It came down to a coin flip between Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, given how successful each game was against the 49ers last year. In the first meeting between these teams in Week 8, Metcalf went off for 12-161-2 while Lockett was held to four catches for 33 yards. In the rematch in Week 17, Lockett was the one who exploded for 12-90-2 while Metcalf was limited to three catches and 21 yards. However, the fact that Metcalf was still targeted nine times in the Week 17 matchup is the deciding factor, as his blazing speed and physical presence make him more of a target in all areas of the field. Lockett has the feel thus far that he depends on big plays for his touchdowns, as he has two 60+ yard touchdowns on the season. Metcalf is more of a red-zone threat, and we like that he is coming off his best game of the season heading into this matchup.
