For Monday Night Football, Matt O'Leary gives his picks for the Los Angeles Chargers vs Las Vegas Raiders AFC West matchup.

MNF Same-Game Parlay: Las Vegas Raiders vs Los Angeles Chargers

The Las Vegas Raiders are off to a surprising 3-0 start to their season. So far, they have wins over the Ravens, Steelers, and Dolphins to their name but now they face a tough task with having to travel to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers.

Los Angeles is 2-1 and coming off of a win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 3. Justin Herbert has picked up where he left off last season and the sky looks to be the limit for this team and first-year head coach Brandon Staley.

Here’s a three-leg same-game parlay to try out for this marquee AFC West matchup.

Leg 1: Justin Herbert over 249.5 passing yards

Justin Herbert has cleared 250 yards passing in all but three of his career starts. In fact, in both starts against the Raiders last season Herbert cleared 300 yards passing. Right now the Raiders defense ranks 14th against the pass but that could be inflated by playing a struggling Ben Roethlisberger and a backup QB against the Dolphins.

With Herbert averaging 318.7 yards per game so far, I’m very confident that he clears this number. The Chargers passing offense is fourth in yards and fifth in passing attempts on the season with Herbert averaging a yards per attempt of 8.8.

Leg 2: Over 52.5 points total

I wish I was as good at something in my life as the Raiders are at hitting the over. Since the start of 2020, they’re 14-4-1 at reaching the over in their games leading the NFL by a substantial margin. The Chargers have yet to hit an over this season but with the Raiders offensive success this year there’s a chance that changes on Sunday.

The Raiders are sixth in the league in points for on the season as they’ve eclipsed 30 in two of their three games. In games that Justin Herbert has started, the Chargers have cleared the 30 number seven times. I expect a high-scoring contest between these two AFC West teams.

Leg 3: Chargers -3.5

Both teams are 2-1 against the spread in 2021, but since the start of last year, the Chargers have been a little bit better going 11-8 ATS covering 57.9 percent of the time. Las Vegas is at 10-9 for a 52.6 cover percentage over that same span.

The Chargers have been excellent in divisional play going 5-2 against the spread since the beginning of 2020. In this divisional matchup, I expect more of the same with the Chargers having the better roster and the home-field advantage.

It should be a good game but in the end, I think the Chargers pull away and we’re looking at like a 30-24 win for the home team. If all three legs of the parlay hit you’re looking at a +370 return
