NFL Week 5 Picks: Top Player Props for Early Sunday Games

For this Sunday, I’ll be taking a look at some of my favorite player props. There’s a few rules that I’m following here, so all of these props will be from the 1:00 pm slate. Yes, there are some good games at 4:00 pm and in some prime time spots, but what about getting you through the first window?

We’ll go over four plays that I really like from four different players and four different games. Let’s take a look at the top play props for the 1:00 pm window on Sunday.

Sam Darnold over 259.5 passing yards (-115)

Sam Darnold has gone over 300 passing yards three games in a row and in the first game of the year, he came in at 279. He’s played much better since joining Carolina, which is really no surprise to anyone who watched him in three years with the Jets.

This week, they’re taking on the Eagles who have given up just the seventh-fewest passing yards allowed. This is likely Sam Darnold’s best test so far, which is why we see that number down around 260 after three weeks in a row above 300.

I’m not so sure he’s able to make it four weeks in a row above 300 but after a down performance against the Cowboys in Week 4, I expect a steady game from him this week.

Aaron Jones under 59.5 rushing yards (-115)

Aaron Jones just simply hasn’t been good to start this year. He’s averaging just 3.7 yards per attempt in the Packers’ first four games this year. He only has one game above four yards per carry and that came against the 49ers in Week 3.

Cincinnati has actually been really good against the run this year allowing the ninth fewest yards against. In Week 1 Cincy held Dalvin Cook to 3.05 yards per carry, then next week it was David Montgomery at just 3.05 yards per carry. James Robinson is the only one to have any kind of success with 78 yards on the ground and two scores against this defense.

Chris Godwin over 62.5 receiving yards (-115)

Last week, Chris Godwin had just three catches for 55 yards against New England. Luckily for Godwin, Tom Brady, and the Buccaneers the Miami Dolphins defense is nowhere close to as stingy as the Patriots.

Despite having two shutdown corners, the Dolphins defense is just 25th in football. It could be a very long day for them with Tom Brady back in his home stadium fresh off a lousy performance.

Derrick Henry over 114.5 yards (-115)

The number being 114.5 seems crazy high, and to anyone not named Derrick Henry it probably is but more than likely he’ll be fed well again and go for 150 yards on the ground. He went for 157 last week and two weeks ago it was 182 yards and three touchdowns.

Jacksonville isn’t exactly a defensive team either. The last time these two teams played Henry went for 215 yards on the ground in Week 14. He’s actually gone for over 200 twice against Jacksonville in his career.
