NFL Week 5 Picks: Cleveland Browns vs Arizona Cardinals Predictions, Picks & Odds
Week 5 saw a devastating loss for the Cleveland Browns. After going up 27-13 in the third quarter, they fell apart and the fourth quarter saw Justin Herbert lead his team to a 47-42 victory over the Browns. That’s twice now that they blew late leads on the road.
Now, they head home to host the unbeaten Arizona Cardinals. Arizona sits at 5-0 and after a down week offensively, they sit at fourth in points for and sixth in yards. Do they get back in gear and continue their winning ways on the road or is this their first loss of the season?

Cleveland Browns vs Arizona Cardinals Predictions
The Browns have been weird so far this year. They’ve had some dominant defensive performances, like allowing just 13 points to the Bears and Vikings over a two-week period and then just a complete second-half meltdown like what we saw last week and against Kansas City.
While Baker Mayfield has been off to a slow start, the run game has been unbelievable. Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt have the league’s best statistics as they already have 12 rushing touchdowns and 938 yards between the two of them.
For Arizona, sure the offense has been great, and overall they have their defense has been good allowing the sixth-fewest points but this week there’s a chance they struggle. They’ve allowed the fourth-most rushing yards in the league so far this season.
Opponents are averaging 5.39 yards per carry against this defense and just last week, they let up 5.43 yards per attempt on the ground to San Francisco. Asking them to contain Chubb and Hunt seems like an impossible task. Granted, offensively they’ve been really good so perhaps that mitigates some of their issues in the run game but if you’re looking for an advantage that’s one that jumps out.
Cleveland holds a 3-2 record against the spread this year while Arizona sits at 4-1 in 2021. At home, they’re just 1-1 but in non-conference games since 2020 they hold a 6-0 record. The Cards are 3-3 in non-conference games but as a road dog are 4-2 with a +12.4 ATS +/-.
Honestly, on paper, the Browns here have the better roster they’ve just had a couple of tough breaks against two of the best quarterbacks in the entire league. The Cardinals might’ve shown last week that they’re a little more beatable than we thought.
This is one of the more difficult games that I had to pick this year, but I think I’m going with the home favorite. They really can’t afford to lose two in a row especially with the Bengals taking on the Lions and the Steelers taking on the Seahawks without Russell Wilson. They’re the more desperate team and Arizona has some breathing room.
