NFL Week 6 Picks: Detroit Lions vs. Cincinnati Bengals Predictions, Picks & Odds

The Cincinnati Bengals dropped an overtime heartbreaker to the Green Bay Packers. The Bengals missed the game-winning field goal and eventually lost in overtime after five straight missed field goals from both teams at one time during the game. Quarterback Joe Burrow had a throat contusion and went to the hospital after the game but is expected to start and play for the Bengals on Sunday against the Lions.

On the other hand, the Detroit Lions continue to fight, despite an 0-5 start. They’ve had two games in three weeks, end 19-17 on game-winning field goals more than 50 yards each. It’s been a rollercoaster ride for the Lions, but eventually, they’ll get a win. Could that be against the Bengals?

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Detroit Lions Prediction

As long as Joe Burrow is good to go, the Lions secondary is in trouble. The Lions have allowed 269 yards per game in the air, and Burrow has thrown for 253.8 yards per game this season with multiple playmakers around him, including Joe Mixon, JaMarr Chase, Tyler Boyd, and Tee Higgins.

Meanwhile, the Lions just lost one of their biggest playmakers in Quintez Cephus, who injured his collarbone and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Bengals are averaging 22.8 points per game and have played much better on the defensive end, allowing just 20 points per game. The pass protection is still very questionable and almost sidelined Burrow for a second straight season after he was thrown to the ground with his back of the head hitting the ground first. That’s likely what led to his throat contusion, but he’ll be ready Sunday,

Burrow has looked really good at times but also has six interceptions. It’s a bit of a sophomore slump, but he’s still showing signs of progressing. He led his team to a game-winning field goal try last week against the Packers when many people didn’t give the Bengals a chance at defeating the Packers. Of course, the kicking in that game was atrocious, but Burrow is a gamer.

On the other hand, it’s hard to pick against the Lions. They’ve stuck around in games and deserve to win a game. They’ve played hard under Dan Campbell and seem to have terrific chemistry as a group. Of course, the talent isn’t really there, especially on the defensive side, but holding the Ravens and Vikings to just 19 points is actually really solid.

At the end of the day, it’s just a poor matchup for the Lions going up against the Bengals. The Lions secondary is already without Jeff Okudahh this season, and they’ve struggled really badly. A couple of deep plays to Chase are in play here. The Bengals should get the job done, on the road against the spread.

Detroit Lions vs. Cincinnati Pick

NFL Free Picks: Week 6 is here after a wild Week 5. Week 5 saw Cordaralle Patterson and Kyle Pitts dominate the world stage in London. The Packers and Bengals back and forth overtime game with tons of botched field goals. Tom Brady and company continue to dominate. The Bills rolled over the Chiefs and are now AFC title favorites. The Patriots, Eagles, and Chargers all come out on top with 4th quarter comebacks. Kyler Murray and the Cardinals remain the lone unbeaten team and much, much more. A rivalry as old as time as the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears square off. The Arizona Cardinals put their undefeated record on the line against the Cleveland Browns and on Monday Night Football the Buffalo Bills will look to stay red hot facing the Tennessee Titans.
