TNF Same-Game Parlay Picks: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Philadelphia Eagles
After back-to-back down weeks for the offense, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came back to life against the Miami Dolphins putting up 45 in a win to improve to 4-1. The offense put up a season-high 558 yards and Tom Brady went for 411 passing yards and five passing touchdowns in a dominant effort.
As for Philadelphia, they’re coming off an upset road win over the Carolina Panthers. The defense caused Sam Darnold to throw three picks as they held on to win 21-18. After back-to-back weeks of allowing 40+ to the Cowboys and Chiefs, they looked much more like the unit we saw the first two weeks of the year.
Will the offense be able to slow down Tampa Bay this week or will it be a regression like we saw against two of the league’s best? Here’s a same-game parlay with my prediction:
Leg 1: Tampa Bay Buccaneers -6.5
Both Philadelphia and Tampa are 2-3 against the spread this year so it may seem like a gutsy pick, taking the Bucs to win by more than a touchdown on the road. Looking at this game, I don’t think we see a similar defensive performance in Week 6 from the Eagles though.
Patrick Mahomes and Dak Prescott, two of the better quarterbacks in football were able to carve up this defense. Just because they got Sam Darnold to turn the ball over a few times doesn’t mean that they are suddenly back to being this elite unit.
As a road favorite, Tampa is just 4-6 ATS but their average margin of victory in those games is 11.1. The Eagles defense has struggled allowing the third-most yards against in the NFL on the ground. I see that Bucs putting up points, and I’m not so sure the Eagles have enough to keep up.
Leg 2: Philadelphia Eagles Over 13.5 points
Now, just because I think the Eagles aren’t going to stay in this game doesn’t mean I can’t see them eclipsing the 13.5 point mark. They’ve done it in four out of five games this season and in 20 of their last 21 games as a team.
The Buccaneers on average have allowed 24.4 points per game against. Their defense has been excellent against the run as they rank first in yards allowed, touchdowns, and yards per attempt but against the pass they haven’t seen that same success.
Tampa ranks worst in football in passing yards allowed and 30th in touchdowns allowed. Philly should have no issue getting to 14 in this game.
Leg 3: Tom Brady over 249.5 passing yards
Through five games this year, Tom Brady is averaging 343.4 yards per game. It’s insane just how good he’s been this year at 44 years old and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down anytime soon. In Brady’s worst game of the season, against the New England Patriots, he still managed to throw for 269 yards in the game.
Brady should be able to hit this number in his sleep. I understand the Eagles have been playing well against the pass allowing just 194.8 passing yards per game against but don’t let that scare you off. Pat Mahomes cleared 250 yards and Dak Prescott may not have cleared the number but he was still at a 9.2 yards per attempt against this defense.
With how Tampa Bay is structured, they like to throw the ball and if Brady is throwing 30+ times this game, there’s no reason to believe he won’t smash the 250 number.
