The New York Jets are taking on the New England Patriots in Week 7. Will Zach Wilson get his revenge or does Bill Belichick dominate again?
ANALYSIS

Jets vs. Patriots Predictions: Will Zach Wilson Get His Revenge?

The last time these two teams played in Week 2 it was pretty ugly. Zach Wilson threw four interceptions, the first two on his first two passing attempts on the day. It ended up being a 25-6 win for New England on the road for their first win of the season.

When these two rookie quarterbacks square off again, this time in Foxborough, will Bill Belichick get the best of Zach Wilson again or will Wilson get his revenge coming off the bye?

New York Jets vs New England Patriots Prediction

After their trip to London in Week 5, the New York Jets were on the bye this past week. They went 1-4 before getting their week off and now have to go on the road to play the New England Patriots. The last time these two teams played it was one of those rookie QB performances as Wilson was picked off four times.

The rest of the team played a rather sound game in a 25-6 loss, all things considered, but with four turnovers it was all but over before they really had a chance. Right now the offense is really struggling averaging just 13.4 points per game.

Zach Wilson has nine interceptions on the season and the Jets don’t have a running back currently averaging more than 3.7 yards per carry. Unfortunately for Wilson, Belicheck has never lost at home to a rookie QB going 13-0 in those games.

The Patriots sit at 2-4 through six games but have hung tough this year in most of their contests. Three of their four losses were by six points or less and their most recent loss was in overtime to the Dallas Cowboys.

Offensively, they’ve been pretty mediocre as they rank 24th in points and 26th in yards with a rookie quarterback, Mac Jones at the helm. Their bread and butter right now is their defense which has allowed the ninth fewest points against this season.

To their credit, they’ve averaged 27 points over the last two games against Houston and Dallas. If they get into the 20’s, that should be enough to both win and cover this game against the Jets.

New England is just 2-4 against the spread, but their average margin of victory is -0.3. Comparatively, the Jets are 1-4 and their average margin of victory is -10.8. With their offense woes, they’ve been losing big more often than not.

The Patriots have won 11 straight games straight up against the Jets and hold a 7-4 record against the spread over that time. Since 2019, New York is just 5-13 against the spread on the road. They’ve given us no reason to believe that they can cover this game, even with the extra rest.
