Cardinals vs. Texans Same-Game Parlay Picks: Kyler Murray Goes Off vs Houston
I almost feel bad for Davis Mills and the Houston Texans this week. They’ve lost four in a row and now have to go on the road to Arizona after putting up a three-spot last week to Indianapolis. As for the Cardinals, well, they’re coming off a rather decisive win over the Cleveland Browns.
They won 37-14 to improve to 6-0 on the season and they currently are top-five in both offense and defense. For this Sunday’s contest, I’m looking at a modest three-leg same-game parlay with a potential for a +140 return.
Leg 1: Cardinals to lead at the half
Arizona is the best first-half team in the league averaging 18.7 points in the first half per game. As for Houston, they’re not as bad as I anticipated but they’re coming in with 10.8 points per game which has them at 18th.
More often than not, Arizona jumps out to an early start. They currently rank fourth in points for and are going against the 25th overall defense in points against in the Houston Texans. This one can get ugly, and ugly quick as Vegas has this at a 17.5 point spread in favor of the home team. All Arizona has to do is be up at the half, there’s no number to cover.
Leg 2: Texans UNDER 14.5 points
That’s an insanely low number for a team under but I’m fairly confident that Houston will struggle to get in the endzone this week. In three of their six games, Houston has put up 10 points or less and the Cardinals have the third overall defense in the NFL.
The Bills, Panthers, and Colts were the three teams who were able to hold Houston under 10, and based on everything we’ve seen from the Cardinals defense there’s no reason to believe they can’t have the same kind of success. I’m giving myself a little extra cushion at 14.5 just in case.
Leg 3: Cardinals -17.5
This is the big one, the Cardinals have to cover a huge number. I hate betting games where the spread is this high, but these circumstances are different. Kyler Murray is playing at an MVP caliber pace to start the season and I don’t see that slowing down this week.
Kyler has 14 passing touchdowns and three more rushing touchdowns to go with it. He’s throwing for 290 yards per game an 8.9 yards per attempt and a 67.6 QBR. In half the Texans games this year, they’ve allowed opponents to go over 30.
Considering the Cardinals are averaging 32.3 points per game, the Texans would likely need to eclipse 14 points to cover this number at the absolute minimum. The Cardinals are 5-1 against the spread this year and while Houston is 3-3 their average margin of victory is -13.3 which is the worst in the league. This one has blowout potential written all over it.
