The New York Jets head up to New England to take on the Patriots in Week 7. Here's a four-leg same-game parlay for the action on Sunday from Matt O'Leary.
ANALYSIS

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots Same-Game Parlay Picks: Mac Jones vs Zach Wilson

The New York Jets are traveling to New England to take on the Patriots this week. The first time these two teams played back in Week 2, it was ugly for rookie quarterback Zach Wilson who threw four picks, two of which were on his first two pass attempts.

It was a 25-6 win for New England in that one as Mac Jones went 22 of 33 for 186 yards passing (5.6 yards per attempt). This time, will the Jets have a better shot, or will Bill Belichick and the Patriots get the better of Gang Green once again.

For this AFC East rivalry game, I have a four-leg same-game parlay for us to try out.

New York Jets vs New England Patriots Betting Odds

Leg 1: New England 1st half (3 way)

New England hasn’t been phenomenal in the first half, they rank 22 nf in the league which is fairly mediocre with 9.3 first-half points per game. On the other side, you have the Jets who are worst in the league by a landslide. Like, it’s a jarring number. On average, the Jets have 2.6 points of offense in the first half through five games.

Are we serious? The Jets have bumped that number up to 10.2 second-half points which is an improvement but still, week in and week out they dig themselves big holes, it’s truly remarkable. New England at the half is the least of my concerns in this parlay.

Leg 2: Jets Under 17.5 points

Only twice have the Jets cleared this number so far. On the season, they are averaging 13.4 points per game and for whatever reason, they just seem to struggle in New England. Over the last five years, the Jets have scored 14, 14, 3, 6, and 3 points on the road in Foxborough.

Sure, Robert Saleh and Zach Wilson don’t have anything to do with the past Jets’ failures but right now, they need to prove their own worth on offense before being given the benefit of the doubt against anybody. New England has held two of their opponents under 17.5 points this season and rank ninth in the league in points allowed.

Leg 3: Patriots over 19.5 points

On the flip, New England has scored over 20 points in half of their games. To the Jets' credit, they’ve been good on defense but is it going to be enough to hold the Pats under 20, especially if linebacker CJ Mosley isn’t good to go on Sunday?

The last time these two teams played, the defense was steady but due to turnovers still allowed 25 points. Only once have the Jets held an opponent to under 20 points and that was against Sam Darnold and the Panthers in Week 1.

Leg 4: Patriots -6.5

Last but certainly not least we have the Patriots covering the number against the Jets. New England is just 2-4 against the spread but as outlined, by the Jets’ recent history on the road against Bill Belichick I just don’t buy it.

Belichick is 13-0 at home against rookie quarterbacks and until Zach Wilson is able to show that he isn’t going to turn the ball over against the Pats, the same issue that Sam Darnold had before him then I’m not buying into the Jets being able to cover this number.
