Fantasy Football Week 8: Eight Streamers and Sleepers To Add to Your Lineups

Streamers are players you can plug and play each week to fill a void in your fantasy football lineups. These players are rostered in a low percentage of leagues and should be available for you to pick up.

I will focus on the best player at each position every week who are rostered in under 50% of leagues. Typically, these will be guys you won’t want to drop too much of your free-agent acquisition budget (FAAB) on as they will be mostly short-term solutions.

The hope is that the players listed below will perform well enough to make up for any starters you may have to sit due to injury, suspension, or bye weeks. Maybe they even become viable starters for your fantasy teams going forward.

Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts vs Tennessee Titans

Carson Wentz has thrown a pair of touchdowns in 4 consecutive games. He threw 2 more touchdowns and even added a rushing touchdown in Week 7 in San Francisco during an atmospheric river!

The Tennessee Titans have given up the 7th most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. Yes, they did just stop Patrick Mahomes last week, but there were a ton of turnovers in that game. The Chiefs offense just couldn’t get anything going. Prior to Week 7, the Titans defense had given up multiple touchdown passes in 4 of 6 games.

Carson Wentz and gelling with his pass-catching options and the Colts’ run game is finally helping to keep defenses honest. Wentz will be in for a productive fantasy game in Week 8.

Suggested FAAB: 18%

Running Back

Khalil Herbert, Chicago Bears vs San Francisco 49ers

The Chicago Bears rookie running back, Khalil Herbert has been the lone bright spot for this team in the last 3 weeks. He’s run the ball 18 or more times in each of the last 3 games and has totaled 272 rushing yards and a touchdown. He’s involved in the passing game as well, catching 7 of his 8 targets for 48 yards in the last two weeks.

Unfortunately, Herbert will have a short shelf life for fantasy as David Montgomery is expected to return soon. Montgomery will not be back for Week 8.

The most encouraging sign for Khalil Herbert was his performance against one of the best rush defenses in the league in Week 7. He became the first running back to rush for 100 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Pick him up and play him Week 8 and hold onto him even with Montgomery returns. He could be more involved going forward, regardless if everyone is healthy.

Suggested FAAB: 9%

Wide Receiver

Kalif Raymond, Detroit Lions vs Philadelphia Eagles

Kalif Raymond has been a valuable target for Jared Goff. Raymond has 6 or more targets in 4 of the last 5 games for the Lions. He did put up a dud performance in Week 5 against the Vikings. That week, he did not record a catch on just 2 targets. The other 4 weeks, however, have been productive for PPR formats.

In those 4 games, Kalif Raymond totaled 21 catches on 31 targets for 266 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. He’s coming off his first 100+ receiving yard performance.

The Eagles have given up multiple touchdown passes in 4 of the last 5 games. They have not given up a ton of receiving yards this year but they have allowed a plenty of receptions to the position recently.

Suggested FAAB: 6%

Tight End

Evan Engram, New York Giants @ Kansas City Chiefs

Evan Engram has delivered mediocre performances from a fantasy perspective all season. The volume has been there for the Giants’ tight end, however. He has 4 or more targets in each of his last 5 games. He’s totaled 20 receptions on 29 targets in that span. His best yardage performance came in Week 5 against the Cowboys with 55 yards.

Engram has yet to score a touchdown this season, but I believe he finally hits pay dirt against the awful Kansas City Chiefs defense. The Chiefs’ defense has given up the 3rd most fantasy points to tight ends this year. They have allowed a touchdown to a tight end in 3 of the last 4 games.

Given the number of injuries to Giants’ wide receivers, Evan Engram will continue to get the volume and it’s about to pay off in Week 8.

Suggested FAAB: 6%
