New York Jets vs Cincinnati Bengals Predictions
The New York Jets will be starting either Mike White over Joe Flacco, who they just traded for, at the quarterback position. White saw his first action in the NFL against New England in relief of Zach Wilson while Joe Flacco will be with the team for all of six days before Sunday. It’s not good either way, but Coach Saleh elected to go with White.
Up until the last couple of weeks, the team’s saving grace was the defense. After allowing 551 yards of offense and 54 points to the Patriots, that claim to fame goes out the window. C.J. Mosley was out against the Pats, which was clearly a huge deal, and he may not be able to go on Sunday against this Bengals team. If that’s the case, good luck for the Jets.
Over the last two weeks, Cincinnati has combined for 75 points and now sit at seventh in the league in points scored on the season. Defensively, they rank fifth in the league in points allowed. Holding their opponents to 25 points or less in every single game this year and 20 or less in four of seven games.
In his return, Joe Burrow has been excellent for the Bengals throwing for 17 touchdowns, 279.4 yards per game, and a rating of 108.9 through the team’s first seven games of the season. The addition of Ja’Marr Chae has made a major impact as he already has 754 yards and six touchdowns on the year.
The Bengals rank third in the NFL in yards per play at 6.2. This high-powered offense should have a field day on the demoralized Jets.
The Bengals are 5-2 against the spread this year, with an 8.7 average margin of victory and an ATS +/- of 9.4 which is third-best in the NFL. They’re 3-1 as a road team this year and 1-0 as a road favorite. New York has just two home games so far. They’re 1-1 in those games with an average margin of victory of -8.
The spread in this game could be 17 points and I’d still take the Bengals on the road. Fade the Jets, forever.
