Los Angeles Chargers vs. New England Patriots Same-Game Parlay: Expect a Healthy Amount of Damien Harris
The New England Patriots ran up the score last week against the Jets, winning 54-13. The Jets didn’t necessarily appreciate the Patriots running up the score, but in a rivalry and divisional game, the Patriots did whatever they could to gain momentum and swagger.
Meanwhile, the Chargers will come off a bye week and welcome the Patriots cross-country. Prior to the bye week, the Chargers lost an ugly one to the Ravens, 34-6. Los Angeles scored just one touchdown on the road and struggled to do anything rushing the football.
With both defenses struggling to get stops in the grand scheme of things, is it safe to assume that this game goes over the total? Here’s our same-game parlay to reflect the over.
Chargers vs. Patriots Same-Game Parlay Picks
Over 48.5 (-118)
The Chargers defense has one of the worst rushing defenses in all of football. They’ve done well rushing the passer, but overall, the coverage has been weak, tackling has been weak, and the Chargers have allowed over 379 yards per game this season. Even at 4-2, the Chargers have still allowed more points than they have achieved this season.
Meanwhile, the Patriots have been a bit below average on the defensive end, despite allowing 20 points per game. New England doesn’t have anything to rave about on the defensive end, although the special teams unit seems to always be prepared to make a play. Sometimes that helps over, and sometimes it doesn’t.
Either way, Both teams have offenses that can score four touchdowns each in this game. Against these defenses, it can absolutely happen.
Patriots/Patriots Double Result (+280)
Patriots Moneyline (+194)
At the end of the day, the Patriots can really run the ball. Meanwhile, the Chargers can’t stop the run and haven’t been close to being successful all year at trying. I like the Patriots to dictate the style of play in this game, and I like the Patriots to be more prepared with momentum coming into the game.
We saw what the Patriots run game did to the Jets. The Chargers are secretly worse against the run defensively. If the Patriots can put up over 50 against the Jets, the Chargers are in trouble defensively. Adding the over to the Patriots victory is extremely enticing and juices the odds very nicely.
Plus, if the over is going to hit, we’re going to need a strong first half from both of these teams. If the Patriots can get going early against the Chargers, on the road, cross-country, I’ll feel really good about the Patriots finding a way to win this game in a potential shootout. All in all, the Patriots, on paper, still have the better defense and can use that run game to their advantage all game.
