New York Giants vs. Las Vegas Raiders Prediction
The Las Vegas Raiders will fly across the states to play a road game this weekend vs. the New York Giants. This was a rough week for the Raiders off the field as Henry Ruggs III was involved in a car accident that took a young woman’s life as Ruggs was charged with a DUI. This was the second event this year for the Raiders off the field as a few weeks ago, Raiders head coach Jon Gruden was fired after emails leaked of his from years past revealing racism and sexism, among other things. The Raiders have had a lot going on off the field this season, and now this Sunday, they will get an opportunity to stay atop of the AFC West facing one of the worst teams in the NFL.
The Raiders come into this football game playing to the tune of a 5-2 record. The Giants come into this game sporting a record of 2-6 midway thru the season. The Giants came into this season with pretty low expectations; however, many thought they would be more competitive than they have thru their first eight games.
The Giants have had to deal with tons of injuries this season to make matters much worse. The Giants have been without Saquon Barkley for over half their season. In addition, the Wide Receiver spot has been depleted in recent weeks, missing critical players like Kenny Golladay and Sterling Shepherd.
The Giants have struggled on both sides of the football this season, but particularly, they are struggling to score the ball at a consistent rate, ranking 24th in the NFL, scoring just 19.5 points per game. Daniel Jones has been streaky this season as he has shown glimpses of being a first-round pick. The Giants are expected to get back former pro bowl running back in the form of Saquon Barkley, which should be a massive boost for this Giant offense. The Giants are also hopeful that star Wide Out Kenny Golladay will be a go for Sunday’s game, giving Jones his best two weapons back.
The Raiders will look to continue their good fortune this season on Sunday behind the strong play of veteran gunslinger Derek Carr. Carr has been outstanding for the Raiders this season, leading them to be the 12th best offense in the NFL, scoring 25.7 points per game.
The big boost for the Raiders this season has been their defense which ranked towards the bottom of the NFL last season. The Raiders defense this season ranks 13th in the NFL in total yards allowed. However, the Raiders passing defense has been excellent this season, ranking 9th in the NFL, allowing just 222.7 yards per game thru the air.
The play I am going with for this game is the Raiders -3. The Raiders are coming off a bye week, so I had an extra week to prep for this Giants team. I do not believe in backing Daniel Jones, and this injury-prone offense scares me off as well. Derek Carr should have his way facing this Giants defense. The Raiders should be able to use their run game, and the Giants defense ranks towards the bottom of the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game. I believe we see another Raiders win this week and cover.
