New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins Prediction: Can We Trust Miami As Road Favorites?

It was fun while it lasted, I guess. Mike White’s fairy tale script as New York Jets quarterback could be over. The Jets are coming off a 45-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills last week after White threw four interceptions and no touchdowns in the loss. Now the Jets will welcome another divisional opponent in the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins started the season 1-7 and have now won two straight games against the Texans and Ravens to jump over the Jets in the standings at 3-7. However, with a win against the Dolphins this week, the Jets would get back in front of the Dolphins in the AFC East Standings. With plenty of questions at quarterback for both teams, which low-tier AFC East team will pick up another win on Sunday, November 21?

New York Jets vs. Miami Dolphins Prediction

At the time of writing this article, it’s unclear who will start for the Jets. Mike White is coming off a disaster of a performance, throwing four interceptions against the Bills with no touchdowns. White was basically given the keys to New York after throwing for over 400 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals, then got hurt against the Colts and looked dreadful against the Bills last week. Despite all that, it still looks like White will get another opportunity to prove himself against the Dolphins. Going up against Miami will certainly be easier than going up against the Bills. The Jets are averaging more points per game than the Dolphins this year, averaging 17.9 points to Miami’s 17.7.

However, the Jets defense has been awful, allowing 32.9 points per game. In the three of their last four, the Jets have allowed 45 or more points. The Jets were supposedly built around defense, and while the offense hasn’t helped their case, the defense has not played well at all this season. The coverage is lacking, and the rushing defense is non-existent as of late.

On the other hand, the Dolphins have momentum with two straight wins. Now they’ll get back quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who helped the Dolphins finish off the Ravens last week in a 22-10 win once Jacoby Brissett was injured. The Dolphins defense had struggled making tackles, but the pass rush and rushing defense upfront are good enough right now. The offense for Miami will also be getting a bit better with Tagovailoia back under center.

Give me the Dolphins as a short favorite on the road. It won’t matter who is playing quarterback on Sunday for the Jets.
