Philadelphia Eagles vs. New Orleans Saints Prediction: Do the Books Have It Right?

On Sunday, the New Orleans Saints will travel into the city of brotherly love to face Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Saints have dealt with some brutal injuries this season, losing star wide receiver Michael Thomas and losing starting quarterback Jamies Winston. The Saints currently hold the number six seed in the NFC, which is good for a playoff spot at the moment. However, there are a lot of teams pressing them at the moment for that playoff spot, and one of those teams is the Philadelphia Eagles.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New Orleans Saints Prediction

The Eagles come into this game with some momentum coming off a big win in Denver on Sunday. The Eagle's offense has found some flow after being criticized heavily for his lack of running the football, head coach Nick Sirani has begun to run the football, and the Eagles have started to find some success on the offensive side of things. This is a team being led by the second-year signal-caller in Jalen Hurts, who is looking to prove he can be the franchise guy.

The Eagles have relied on their run game these last few weeks, which has allowed the play of Hurts to rise. Hurts has been rock solid for the Birds the last few weeks, and he comes into this football game ranked number ten in PFF's highest-graded QBS in the NFL.

The Saints have called on the services of gunslinger Trevor Sieman who has been average in the absence of Jamies Winston. Sieman will be tasked with beating this Eagles defense on the road on Sunday who presents one of the better fronts in all of the NFL.

The pick I am going to within this game is the hometown Philadelphia Eagles. This is the perfect spot for the Eagles to finally get their first win of the season at home at the Linc in front of the Philly faithful. This is a very difficult environment for teams to play in, and Trevor Sieman does not scare me much in this football game.

The X factor in this one will be how the Eagle's offense plays, as the Saint's defense has been the backbone of this football team. The Saints rank seventh in the NFL in points per game allowed. The Eagles come into this game ranked as the 11th best scoring offense in the NFL. However, with the recent surge of the run game and elevated play of Jalen Hurts, the Eagles rank second in the NFL in scoring offense in the last three weeks posting 32.7 points per game only trailing the Indianapolis Colts, scoring 33 points per game. This is an offense who is feeling themselves now and seems to have an identity finally.

The Eagle's defense will need to step up in this game as they have been streaky at times this season. This is a matchup that I think they will get right facing a Saints offense with Trevor Sieman, The Status of Alvin Kamara remains unknown, but even if Kamara goes, he will not be at his normal form, which will have an effect in this game. This is a game fighting for playoff position and should be a great one!
