Los Angeles Chargers vs Pittsburgh Steelers SNF Same-Game Parlay: Fade Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a week where they tied with the Detroit Lions 16-16. They did it without Ben Roethlisberger who was out with COVID, and his availability is still up in the air for Sunday against the Chargers. If he’s unable to go, then expect to see Mason Rudolph again.

After a 4-1 start, the Los Angeles Chargers have lost three of four, their most recent loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Will they finally get back on track this week or will Pittsburgh prove to be the better team?

For this game, I’m looking at a three-leg same-game parlay that could return +205 if it hits. Let’s take a look.

Leg 1: Chargers Race To 20 Points

The Chargers’ offense has been a little out of wack in recent weeks but they’ve been fairly consistent in getting to 20 points. They’ve reached that number three weeks in a row and only twice this season have they come in under 20 points on the season. The Steelers have allowed the eighth fewest points on the season and have held opponents under 20 four times but especially if Mason Rudolph is playing, the Chargers will likely have too many possessions to come under this number. They hit it, not by much, but they should clear 20.

Leg 2: Steelers under 19.5 points

With or without Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers offense hasn’t been very good. They’ve come in under 20 points four times this season and two out of the last three weeks. Just twice has Los Angeles held an opponent to under 20, and they give up the eighth-most points in the league but this week, it’s more so about the Steelers offensive struggles than the liabilities on defense for the Chargers.

Leg 3: Chargers -6.5

6.5 may sound a touch high, and I get it but I just really am not thrilled with the Steelers offense at all and with the likelihood of a backup playing it’s just not going to do it for me. Los Angeles is 5-4 against the spread this year while Pittsburgh is 3-6. The Steelers are 2-1 as an away dog, but it’s not enough for me to reconsider the play. The expectation is for the Chargers offense to get back in sync this week and they do just enough to win and cover this number. I think we’re looking at a 24-14 kind of game.
