Fantasy Football Buy Low, Sell High: 12 Trade Candidates Ahead of Week 12

It’s important to look deeper into a player’s production before making irrational roster decisions. If you are the one in your league reading this, I hope that you can take advantage of each situation as they come.

Each week I will present some players you should either sell high or buy low on while you can. Almost everything in fantasy football is a result of short-term memory. If you don’t act quickly, you will miss out on opportunities that can make or break your fantasy season.

Fantasy Football Players to Buy Low in Week 12

Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, San Francisco 49ers

Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers are in a groove. They have won 3 of their last 4 with Garoppolo throwing multiple touchdowns in each of the last 3 games.

The Minnesota Vikings have given up the 7th most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year. They have allowed a quarterback to throw multiple touchdowns in 3 of the last 4 games. It’s the perfect matchup for Jimmy Garoppolo to have a 4th consecutive game with multiple touchdowns.

You’ll have to get him before his Week 12 matchup as he has favorable matchups the rest of the way.

Michael Carter, RB, New York Jets

Michael Carter has been a great producer for the Jets. Unfortunately, he sprained his ankle last week and is expected to miss the next 2-3 games.

If you have the depth at running back, you may want to float an offer to the Carter manager in your league. They may give up fairly cheap if they need a replacement for the next few weeks.

Carter has a couple of juicy matchups during the fantasy playoffs.

Brandin Cooks, WR, Houston Texans

Brandin Cooks is coming off his worst game of the season. He’s been fairly consistent for the Houston Texans this season. Tyrod Taylor just rushed for touchdowns last week against the Titans, hindering the value of his wideouts.

Tyrod Taylor and the Texans will have to throw the ball a bunch if they want to win their upcoming matchups. This is going to benefit Cooks as he’ll see plenty of opportunities as the top option in the offense.

Hunter Henry, TE, New England Patriots

Hunter Henry has been a go-to option for Mac Jones in the red zone this year. He leads the team with 12 red zone targets and 7 touchdown receptions.

Henry did not score last week and as volatile as the position is, it may be the best time to make an offer for him. You’ll want his touchdown upside on your roster for the rest of the season.

Additional Fantasy Football Buy Low Players

  • Devonta Freeman, RB, Baltimore Ravens
  • Christian Kirk, WR, Arizona Cardinals

Fantasy Football Players to Sell High in Week 12

Taylor Heinicke, QB, Washington Football Team

Taylor Heinicke had himself a surprising performance against a difficult Carolina Panthers defense last week. He threw for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns.

This was Heinicke’s first game with multiple touchdown passes since Week 4. This is not the trend you want in your quarterback as we head into the most important time of the fantasy football season. Sell him if you can.

Melvin Gordon, RB, Denver Broncos

Melvin Gordon has scored a rushing touchdown in each of his last 3 games. The Broncos are coming off their bye and have some difficult matchups approaching.

The Broncos are 5-5 and find themselves at the bottom of the AFC West. If they don’t start winning games, they will soon transition Javonte Williams into the lead-back role so they can see what the future holds. That would destroy Gordon’s fantasy value. Trade him for a running back that has his role carved out for him.

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, San Francisco 49ers

Brandon Aiyuk just had his best game of the season. He caught all 7 of his targets for 85 yards and a touchdown. This is the 2nd time in 3 weeks that he has gone over 80 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Aiyuk is super talented, but he hasn’t been a consistent option for Jimmy G this year. Aiyuk has under 50 receiving yards in 8 of 10 games this season. Trade him while he appears to be hot for a more consistent wide receiver.

Pat Freiermuth, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers

Pat Freiermuth has been getting plenty of volume. He’s been targeted 6 or more times in each of his last 5 games. The biggest problem is that it hasn’t led to much. In those 5 games, Freiermuth has gone over 50 receiving yards just once.

He has scored 4 touchdowns in his last 4 games which will give him plenty of value in a trade proposal. You shouldn’t rely on any Steelers receiving options outside of Diontae Johnson.

Additional Fantasy Football Sell High Players

  • Leonard Fournette, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Jamison, WR, New York Jets
