Fantasy Football Week 12 Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em: Ride The Pats and Mac Jones

Start and sit decisions each week in fantasy football is a challenging thing to balance. Which players you start versus who you leave on the bench will often come back to bite you.

In this weekly Start/Sit article, I’ll aim to guide you in making those difficult decisions. Each week of football presents a whole new list of opportunities for players you may not think about starting. The same goes for higher-profile players. It may not always be sunshine and rainbows for your “every week” starters. There will be weeks that force you to make the tough choice to bench a great player.

My goal is to provide you with enough information to help you make roster decisions that you will feel confident about and have it work out for you each week.

Fantasy Football Week 12 Starts

Quarterback

Mac Jones, New England Patriots (@ Tennessee Titans)

Mac Jones has been hot and cold for fantasy purposes this season. He just threw for 207 yards and 1 touchdown and interception against the Falcons in Week 11. The week prior, Jones threw for 198 yards and 3 touchdowns.

You can’t ignore this matchup. The Tennessee Titans have given up the 4th most fantasy points to quarterbacks this year. They have allowed a quarterback to throw multiple touchdowns in 6 games in 2021. The Titans are much better against the run, so expect Mac Jones to air it out this week.

Additional Week 12 QB Starts:

· Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (@ Miami Dolphins)

· Taylor Heinicke, Washington Football Team (vs Seattle Seahawks)

Running Back

Saquon Barkley, New York Giants (vs Philadelphia Eagles)

You’d think starting Saquon Barkley should be a no-brainer, but given his latest performance, many will be hesitant to give him another start this week.

Barkley is just coming back from a multi-week injury and his first game back was against a very tough Tampa Bay front 7. He rushed just 6 times for 25 yards and somewhat salvaged his fantasy day with 6 receptions for 31 receiving yards.

Saquon Barkley got his first game back jitters out of the way and will have a much bigger role this week against a much weaker defensive line. The Eagles have given up the 8th most fantasy points to running backs this season.

Additional Week 12 RB Starts:

· James Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars (vs Atlanta Falcons)

· Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles (@ New York Giants)

Wide Receiver

Marquise Brown, Baltimore Ravens (vs Cleveland Browns)

Marquise Brown missed Week 11 with a thigh injury. Lamar Jackson also missed the game due to an illness. Both are expected to be back in a great matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have been mediocre against wide receivers this year.

Brown has been targeted 10 or more times in 4 of his last 5 games. You’ll regret benching Brown this week, so find a way to insert him in your lineups.

Additional Week 12 WR Starts:

· Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks (@ Washington Football Team)

· Jaylen Waddle, Miami Dolphins (vs Carolina Panthers)

Tight End

Noah Fant, Denver Broncos (vs Los Angeles Chargers)

Noah Fant caught 5 of 6 targets for 59 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Broncos last game before their Week 11 bye. For a tight end, this is great fantasy production.

Teddy Bridgewater will want to keep Fant’s target share fairly high this week against the Chargers. Los Angeles has given up the 2nd most fantasy points to tight ends this season. They have given up a total 0f 4 touchdowns to the position in the last 2 games.

Additional Week 12 TE Starts:

· Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins (vs Carolina Panthers)

· Hunter Henry, New England Patriots (vs Tennessee Titans)

Fantasy Football Week 11 Sits

Quarterback

Carson Wentz, Indianapolis Colts (vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Carson Wentz had been on a roll, throwing multiple touchdowns in 6 consecutive games from weeks 4 through 9. He’s only thrown 1 touchdown in his last 2 games combined. Not the best trend heading into his Week 12 matchup.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have not allowed a quarterback to throw for multiple touchdowns since Week 5. Since Week 6, the Buccaneers have allowed just 5 touchdown passes while generating 6 interceptions. It’s best to keep Carson on the bench this week.

Additional Week 12 QB Sits:

· Teddy Bridgewater, Denver Broncos (vs Los Angeles Chargers)

· Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans (@ New England Patriots)

Running Back

Myles Gaskin, Miami Dolphins (vs Carolina Panthers)

Don’t let Gaskin’s best rushing game of the season trick you into starting him this week. He just ran for a season-high 23 times, for a season-high 89 rushing yards. Prior to last week, Gaskin’s season-high in rushing yards was 67.

The Dolphins will not give Gaskin the ball much in Week 12. The Carolina Panthers have given up the 2nd fewest fantasy points to running backs. They have given up just 5 rushing touchdowns to running backs this year and only 2 in their last 4 games.

Additional Week 12 RB Sits:

· Mike Davis, Atlanta Falcons (@ Jacksonville Jaguars)

· Latavius Murray, New Orleans Saints (vs Cleveland Browns)

Wide Receiver

A.J. Brown, Tennessee Titans (@ New England Patriots)

The Tennessee Titans have become easier to defend since Derrick Henry went down with injury. Defenses have held Brown to under 50 receiving yards in each of the last 3 games.

The New England Patriots have given up the 5th fewest fantasy points to wide receivers. They are very good at eliminating the top option from the game. A.J. Brown is that option. The Patriots have allowed a wide receiver to have over 100 receiving yards just twice this season and haven’t allowed it since Week 6 against the Cowboys.

Additional Week 12 WR Sits:

· Odell Beckham Jr., Los Angeles Rams (@ Green Bay Packers)

· Sterling Shepard, New York Giants (vs Philadelphia Eagles)

Tight End

Tyler Conklin, Minnesota Vikings (@ San Francisco 49ers)

Tyler Conklin has been fairly productive for fantasy purposes this year. He scored 2 touchdowns in Week 10, but had just 11 receiving yards on the day. He had just 3 targets last week and it amounted to just 35 yards. Not the momentum you are looking for heading into a tough Week 12 matchup.

The San Francisco 49ers have given up the 7th fewest fantasy points to tight ends this year. They haven’t allowed a tight end to have over 38 receiving yards since Week 1. They have given up 3 touchdowns to the position in their last 4 games, but have allowed just 4 total on the year.

Additional Week 12 TE Sits:

· Jared Cook, Los Angeles Charger (@ Denver Broncos)

· Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Rams (@ Washington Football Team)
