The Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders square off in a Week 14 AFC West battle. Which team has the edge? Matt McCuen takes a look and gives us his favorite bet.
ANALYSIS

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Las Vegas Raiders Prediction: Will the Chiefs Continue to Dominate?

This Sunday, we will see one of football’s best rivalries take place as the Las Vegas Raiders will travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs in this pivotal AFC West showdown. The Raiders sit at a dead even 6-6 record and on the bubble to make the playoffs and still holding out small hopes to win an AFC West Championship. The Chiefs have turned into one of the NFL’s hottest teams, winning five games in a row and soaring to the top of the AFC led by Patrick Mahomes and great defensive performances. This game will clean up a lot of what is to come the rest of the season in the AFC West.

Chiefs vs. Raiders Prediction

The Chiefs come into this football game heavily favored after beating up on fellow AFC West opponent, the Denver Broncos. The Chiefs will look to do the same thing they did last Sunday this weekend as they face this Radiers team, who desperately needs a win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Raiders jumped out to a perfect 3-0 start, but since that start is playing to a record of just 3-6. This week, the Raiders will look to recover as a heavy road dog of 9.5 points. This will be a fun game this week as the Raiders look to play spoiler and find a playoff spot. The play I am going with in this football game will be the Las Vegas Raiders. Yes, the Chiefs are hot, and I have often backed them during this hot streak, but this is far too many points for a divisional game with so much on the line for the Raiders. Even when they have lost, this Raiders team has been able to stay competitive in the majority of those games.

This is a spot where Derek Carr will have to elevate his play, and I believe he will be up for the task. The Chief’s defense has been great during this win streak, but I think they will regress in this spot this weekend. The Raiders are being undervalued here for me as I have this line much closer to a touchdown, so getting a touchdown and a field goal is a no-brainer.

The Raiders will need some of their wideouts to step up big time for them in the likely absence of star tight end Darren Waller. Waller has not practiced this week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. The lack of Waller in the offense has hurt the Raiders this season, so they will need their secondary guys to step up and make a significant impact on this game to take some pressure off the arm of Derek Carr. The running game will also have to be effective with Josh Jacobs, who, when healthy, has shown he can be one of the better running backs in all of the NFL. If the Raiders can control the tempo and the running game, which I believe they can, they will stay inside this large number. The game plan has to be to run the ball often and use extensions of the running game to keep the clock moving and Mahomes and the KC high-powered offense on the sidelines. The Raiders get it done for us Sunday against the spread!
