Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens Best Bet: Do Oddsmakers Have This One Right?

Didn't we just see this game? Yes, we did on Sunday night football. November 28, the Ravens beat the Browns 16-10. We all watched this game, and to be honest, the Ravens should have never won this game, let alone covered, but that is the NFL for you. Lamar Jackson threw not one, not two, not three, but four interceptions in that game. I think they showed some crazy stat that if you throw four interceptions in the NFL, your odds of winning are in the single digits (they should be zero because no team should throw four interceptions and win a game). We also remember Baker Mayfield was unhealthy for the game with all his injuries (too many commercials, maybe?), and people called for Case Keenum.

Still, he has a bye week to get ready, and I am sure the Browns have not forgotten the bitter taste for two weeks of losing this game. Also, the Browns have now lost four in a row to the Ravens. So being in the same division, your playoff hopes are on the line. This is it. Win or your season ends on Sunday (currently 11th seed). So what is the Browns problem, you are wondering? It's the offense or lack of it. They have scored 17 points or less in six out of their last seven games.

Browns vs. Ravens Prediction

The Ravens lost last week, but they did what they had to do since they lost a massive part of their defense in Marlon Humphrey. Coach Harbaugh figured this was his best shot at a win and didn't want to play overtime. I don't blame him since Baltimore has been injury-prone all year. Missing Humphrey is huge since the Browns have so many offensive weapons (if they could only figure out how to use them now). Also, seeing the injury report, the Ravens have had a few guys that may not play Sunday, including Calais Campbell, which would be a massive loss to a depleted defense.

We saw Bellichick on Monday night adjust to the weather and run an option offense (he wore a Navy face mask before the game hello) to beat the Bills. The Ravens are the number one rush defense, and the Browns are the number three rush offense, so we know that won't work since it didn't last. "Not so fast," as Lee Corso would say. They only had 17 attempts for 40 yards with Chubb and Hunt 15 for 36 yards. Those are disgusting numbers. We feel the Browns will run the ball at least 30 times this game or get the ball into Chubb and Hunt's hands-on screens, things they didn't do two weeks ago. Taking the ball out of Mayfield's hands and the fact Njoku and a few other options are hurt or out means you get the ball to your best players, and those are your running backs.

The Ravens dared the Browns to throw and beat them two weeks ago, but they had Humphrey. I don't see them doing the same thing this week. Mayfield is healthier, and the Browns have all the motivation they need because if they lose, then the rest of the season is garbage time. The Browns defense had four interceptions, two sacks and were all over Lamar, and they still didn't win. So expect this defense to be even more fired up knowing they have to win this game for the team and just hope the offense doesn't lose it.

The Ravens are atop the division and should make the playoffs, but they are down to what their fifth running back? The Browns contained Lamar (68 rushing, 165 passing, and of course 4 interceptions), and numbers don't lie. The Ravens have scored over 20 just once in their last six games. Lamar leads the league in sacks over that span and is second in interceptions. You make mistakes, and you will not win. A beat-up team versus a revenge-minded team, season on the line, we expect the Browns to win this game in a possible flip score of 17-13.  Lay the 2.5, and let's see if Mayfield can win before he needs Progressive insurance.
