What's the best player prop to bet for the Houston Texans vs. Seattle Seahawks matchup? Gray Gutfruend has you covered.

Houston Texans vs. Seattle Seahawks Predictions: Cashing In With a Defensive Prop

The 4-8 Seattle Seahawks were left for dead by many after a loss to the Washington Football Team on Monday Night Football two weeks ago. But, as 8.5-point favorites, they’re looking to fight for their playoff chances on the road in Houston this Sunday.

Most player props are focused on the offensive side of the ball, but this one gives some shine to one of the best defensive backs in the NFL. Let’s dive into the pick!

Quandre Diggs Over 2.5 Solo Tackles (-180)

Line available at DraftKings as of writing

Jamal Adams seems to be the safety that gets all the buzz and attention in Seattle. But, there are two reasons that won’t be the case in Week 14. For one, Adams was just placed on season-ending Injured Reserve due to a torn labrum and will not be on the field this week. And second, Adams isn’t even the best safety on the Seahawks.

Quandre Diggs has been nothing short of spectacular this season. He was a Pro Bowler in 2020 and is following it up with an equally as good, if not better, 2021 campaign. More importantly, he’s been a force in the run game and has been racking up tackles for Seattle, giving us an awesome value on this prop.

Diggs has 3+ tackles in 10/12 games this season, good for an 83% hit rate on this prop. His only two misses have also come at 2 solo tackles. And, he’s comfortably hit this over more often than not, finishing with at least 5 solo tackles in 8/12 games so far.

Seattle’s stud safety is averaging 4.4 tackles per game, and will only be relied upon as a run stopper even more with Adams out for the season. Diggs is a true every-down player for the Seahawks, as he’s played 99% of Seattle’s defensive snaps in 2021. There are few players in recent memory that have played the amount that Diggs has this season. He leads all defensive backs in snaps played and is second only to teammate Bobby Wagner among all NFL players. This should give him plenty of opportunities to get his tackle numbers up against the lowly Texans this week.

Houston presents a positive matchup for this prop. An opposing safety has recorded 3+ solo tackles in all 12 Texans contests in 2021, and multiple safeties have reached the 3-tackle mark in 7/12 games vs. Houston this season. Five safeties have hit the mark in three Texans games since their bye week, and Diggs should continue the trend in Houston this Sunday.
