Los Angeles Chargers vs New York Giants Prediction

Did Bill Belichick change the NFL last week? Maybe, but I do know one thing: the Giants must have learned something from that game because we expect them to do a lot of the same stuff. Jake Fromm, a great college quarterback, gets his shot in the NFL today. It’s obvious the Giants are a team that can play defense but scoring is an issue. Look at last week they played the Dolphins tight and expect the same. No one likes to be embarrassed in the NFL so short outs and Barkley all day long.

Let's also look at some numbers the Giants are one of or might be the best road team ATS as they are 30-12 there last 42 and 19-6 last 25. Leaving cold New York for a warmer California always helps a team as well. We know the game plan for Fromm is to manage the game with low scoring, play defense, and see what happens and that's what happened last week, they had a very respectable game. Getting Double Digits in the NFL is always hard to pass up.

The Chargers are one of the WORST home ATS teams year in and year out as a matter of fact laying double digits at home they are 0-7 as a double digit favorite after a game where they scored over 30 points. The Chargers have actually been outscored this year even though they are 7-5 and a playoff team currently telling you their defense isn't that great and playing an unknown is always hard on a defense but forget all the numbers even though we have more there is one very important thing in play here today. They just POUNDED the Bengals and they feel great they now face the lonely Giants with a QB off the practice squad and they play THURSDAY night the biggest game of the year against Kansas City for the division possibly. This is a classic sandwich, let down spot as you will ever have in the NFL. The Chargers can't and won't be excited for this game mentally or physically with KC on Thursday so that will help us tremendously.

More numbers, in the last 10 years the Chargers are 36% ATS at home and 29% if it's a non-divisional game, and even worse only 22% ATS at home off a road game. These are awful numbers that you can't trust a Charger team at home let alone by Double Digits. Here is what I feel is the icing on the cake.

The Chargers run defense is 31st out of 32 NFL teams giving up over 141 yards rushing a game. If the Giants don't run the ball all day the coach should be fired. Also Keenan Allen is out, their best receiver. Derwin James may or may not play their best safety. Joey Bosa is not 100% and they have at least 3 other starters officially out. The Chargers last 3 at home have been decided by a total of 10 points so let's keep that average at 3.3 for one more game. Chargers win 21-17 but the Giants get the cover.
