ANALYSIS

Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots Best Bet: Will the Patriots Extend Win Streak?

Saturday Night NFL, what a beautiful thing that is to say! The New England Patriots will travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to face the Indianapolis Colts. The Patriots enter this game as the hottest team in the league finding themselves in first place in the AFC East and competing to be a number one seed in the AFC. The Colts, on the flip side, had a slow start to their season but now find themselves as a Wild card team holding onto small hopes of winning the AFC South.

Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots Prediction

The Colts present the second-best rushing game in all of the NFL, only behind the Philadelphia Eagles, while first-year Colts quarterback Carson Wentz has been great for them this year.

The Patriots came into this season with expectations of being a mediocre team with a rookie signal-caller in Mac Jones and a new-look defense. Bill Belichek has done his best coaching job yet, pushing this team to the top of the AFC and looking like a legit super bowl contender. The Colts will look to cool off the red hot Patriots, who have not lost since October 17th in overtime to the Dallas Cowboys.

The play I am going with is the Colts at -2.

I love everything about this spot for the Colts to start off being the home team here against a rookie quarterback in Jones who has yet to lose a road game in his NFL career. The rookie quarterback is very much due for a letdown, as is this entire New England Patriots team. The line is telling us the story in this game with the Colts being the favorite, and the public will be all over the Patriots with the points. I think this is a very good New England team, but I think the Patriots lucked out with their schedule during the hot run, playing a fair amount of cupcakes.

The Pats will be battle-tested all night against this Colts run game which is led by one of the best offensive lines in all of the league and the bruising running back that is Johnathan Taylor. The X factor in this game will be the play of Carson Wentz, and I will tell you why. The run game for the Colts has been their bread and butter, but Bill Belichick is the best in the game at stopping other teams' strengths.

The Colts will have to switch up their normal offense using play-action more often in this game, and I believe this will be a breakout game for Carson Wentz on Saturday. The Colts will have a well-prepared game plan to keep the ball moving and mix up things at home. I think on the defensive side, the Colts will be able to force the Patriots into a lot of third and long situations that will force the hand of Mac Jones, and they should be able to turn the rookie over once or twice. I believe the Colts roll in this one at home, and the Patriots hit some regression on the road give me the home favorite but public dog.
