Indianapolis Colts vs. New England Patriots Prediction

Here we go again -- Belichick is an underdog, and it makes sense line-wise, but realistically, we all know what's going on here. Big Bad Bill never beat Frank Reich when he was a player (1985-1998), as their paths never crossed. Still, as a coach, Big Bad Bill beat Frank back in 2018 in Franks' first year in a very famous game as Tom Brady threw three touchdowns that day to give him 500 in his career. Of course, we all know he has now gotten over 600 touchdowns and over 700 if you include the playoffs. This game will not have Brady or Manning the names and faces of these two teams for over a decade.

Can Frank finally beat Bill? We say No. We all know the Colts have Jonathan Taylor 18 touchdowns and 1348 yards leading the NFL who scores at least one touchdown every game and gets his. Still, we all saw Bill adjusts to the team and the environment, and in prime time he is not going to lose this game when he can prove again he is the best coach and doing it without the GOAT. With COVID, injuries, and everything going on, you have to check everything, and yes, Damien Harris is out, but Rhamondre Stevenson is there to step right in. It seems like if they plug in Branden Bolden or Wide Receivers like they did in their last game when they ran for 222 yards, that guy will deliver. Let's not forget the Patriots are off a bye, and giving Bill two weeks to prepare for a game is hard to pass up. The Patriots, if you forgot, are the hottest team in the NFL, winning and covering their last seven games in a row. Yes, the Colts are off of a bye too, but sorry Frank, we don't trust you as in your playing career, you were primarily a backup, and you are an even further backup when it comes to coaching against Big Bad Bill.

Yes, you can say the Colts are hot too off their 1-4 start as they are currently right on the cusp of the playoffs but let's take a quick look and see that the Colts beat the Texans twice, the Jets, and the Jags, not a murderers row there. Also, an alarming number for the Colts defense is they are giving up over 70% touchdowns when teams get inside the red zone, and you know Bill knows that. Maybe he will be sparked by the Chargers performance on Thursday night football earlier this week, where they said we would go for it on 4th down every drive if we could. Let's not forget Bill went for it on 4th down inside his territory instead of giving Peyton Manning the ball years ago.

Let's look at a few numbers as Bill knows his Defense against the run is far from good, giving up almost 125 yards a game and over 5 yards a carry over this winning streak (they are #1 in points allowed at only 15.4, though). We expect Bill to load up the line and make turnover-prone Carson Wentz beat him with his arm. If the Bucs beat the Colts, you know Bill wants to do the same thing tonight. The Patriots offense is smoking right now, taking away the snow game. The Patriots have scored 24 points in 8 games in a row and averaged a whopping 33 a game with Mac and Cheese, not Brady at Quarterback. As we already mentioned, the Colts are playing bottom feeders, and they aren't stopping them other than Houston. They gave up 30 to the Jets and 17 to the inept Jaguars.

Bottom line, the Colts beat the bottom feeders and have looked good as Coach Reich said we have to win to prove we belong, and we don't see this Colts team beating the on fire Patriots who are now playing for home field, a number one seed and a division title that's all in front of them if they win tonight. If you still don't believe it, let's look at recent matchups with teams they both played. The Patriots beat the Jets 54-13 and the Titans 36-13, while the Colts lost in overtime to Tennessee and only beat the Jets by two scores. The Pats are clicking the Colts, and Taylor will get yards, but we trust the Patriots to win. We don't need them, but we always like the insurance of the spread. So take the Patriots +3 (buy the hook. It's called smart wagering) and sit and watch them win their eighth straight game and cover, of course.
