Cleveland Browns vs Las Vegas Raiders Same-Game Parlay: A Play on the Running Backs

Originally slated for Sunday, the Cleveland Browns are hosting the Las Vegas Raiders at 5:00 pm tonight. Due to over 20 players testing positive for Cleveland, the game was pushed back by the NFL to today. The Browns were able to activate some key players over the weekend so pushing the game back by a day might make up for the original competitive disadvantage they were facing.

The Raiders have been reeling ever since the bye week losing five of six games as they were just blown out by Kansas City the week prior. Looking at this matchup, I don’t like making a pick against the spread for either of these two teams with all the uncertainty but there is a same-game parlay that caught my eye.

Leg 1: Nick Chubb Anytime Touchdown Scorer

Nick Chubb was cleared and will be playing tonight which is the first hurdle we needed to get over from this play. Ironically, in the last two games that Chubb has played, he hasn’t found his way into the endzone. That’s far too long for him to not get in the endzone. Keep in mind, this is someone who has seven touchdowns in 10 games (combined rushing and receiving). When the Browns are at their best they’re using the one-two punch of Chubb and Kareem Hunt and my thought is that they will try to establish a run game against the Raiders. Vegas ranks 26th in the league in rushing yards and touchdowns allowed. This is a good matchup for Chubb.

Leg 2: Josh Jacobs under 58.5 rushing yards

Conversely, this is an awful matchup for Jacobs. He just does not look the same after his first two seasons in the league. He has only 496 yards on the season running the ball which is a per-game average of 45.1. In fact, there are only two instances this year where he has cleared the 58.5 number. Add onto this that the Browns are top-10 against the run, I don’t possibly see how he or the Raiders in general, have a good day running the ball. Their path to success on offense today is to have Derek Carr throw the football, which is something he’s done very well this year.
