Pittsburgh Steelers vs Kansas City Chiefs Prediction: Are the Steelers an Actual Threat in the AFC?

This season has to be the worst season for Pittsburgh in recent memory. However, that hasn’t stopped Pittsburgh from going 7-6-1 on the season with a chance to make the playoffs.

The defense has been abysmal for most of the year and the offense really hasn’t been sharp for the Steelers. Yet here we are. The Steelers are fighting for an AFC North title and a playoff spot. Go figure.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs are 10-4 on the year and although the season started off extremely poor, the Chiefs are starting to figure it all out with seven straight wins.

Here are our picks and predictions for an interesting AFC matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Kansas City Chiefs Prediction

The Steelers have won two of their last three games. Both of those two wins were one-score wins, but they were wins nonetheless.

Pittsburgh is 7-6-1 on the year but has allowed more points than they’ve scored on the year. The Steelers are averaging 20.8 points per game while allowing 23.9 points per game on the season.

The offense is pretty much torn apart at this point, but Ben Roethlisberger and the offense are trying their best with whatever they’ve got. The Steelers average 331.4 yards per game but only 84.6 yards rushing. That’s not good, knowing the Steelers spent their first overall pick on Najee Harris. Maybe they should use him a bit more!

Meanwhile, the Chiefs offense is averaging over 400 yards per game on offense and while the defense has allowed 377.3 yards per game on the year, that number has decreased throughout the second half of the season.

The Chiefs ended up winning a close game against the Chargers, on the road, last week, but before that 34-28 victory, the Chiefs allowed teams to score 14 or fewer points in their previous four games.

The defense looks extremely better in the secondary and have been able to get more pressure on the quarterback in the second half of the season as well. The way to beat the Chiefs on defense would be to effectively run the football.

And the Steelers aren’t going to do that, even though they could with Harris. Let’s grab the Chiefs here at -7.5. The Steelers offense won’t be able to keep up.
