Wild Card Sunday Top Anytime TD Bets
Rob Gronkowski (+130)
If you saw in our staff's top bets for Wild Card weekend you would have gotten a head start on my favorite touchdown pick of the weekend games. I've locked Gronk in as a BANKER. In other words, this is a two-unit bet for me. Touchdowns haven't been hard to come by against the Eagles, who have been the fourth-worst red zone defense in the league. They rank as the worst in the NFL, allowing 10.1% of Tight End targets to result in a touchdown. They allowed a league-high 14 touchdowns to tight ends during the regular season. Gronk has seen eight-plus targets in seven of his last eight games and has managed a "deep catch" in four straight contests. The Eagles allowed the highest completion percentage in the NFL this season (69.4%). We know Tom Brady throws the ball to the players that he trusts. With the season-ending injury to Chris Godwin, Antonio Brown's departure, and now emerging wide receiver Cyril Grayson is also out this week, Brady is left to lean heavily on Mike Evans and Gronkowski. Evans, however, draws a difficult matchup in Darius Slay, so this leads me to believe that Gronk will be even more active this Sunday. Gronk has collected 89 receptions for 1,273 yards and 14 touchdowns with Brady in the playoffs. I'm expecting this future hall of fame duo to show up and how out once again in the Wild Card round.
Cameron Brate (+450)
Did you read everything I just wrote about how poor the Eagles defense has been all season long defending tight ends? How about the part where I said Tom Brady throws to guys he trusts? Brate is the perfect ingredient we need to cash a big ticket on Sunday. My only concern is if it truly is too windy in Tampa but we have to trust the GOAT to get it done. Brate hasn't been a target monster but it's obvious that Brady has looked to him often in the endzone. He hasn't had more than four targets in any of the last six games, but he's scored three touchdowns over that same span. With the advantage for the tight end against this Eagles defense, I like this pick to be on the board for us. You can even view Brate as an insurance spot for our Gronk pick because at least one of these Buccaneers' tight ends will score on Sunday! Let's cash both!
Jalen Hurts (+230)
Hurts has caught my attention for this matchup. I wouldn't normally have been excited to bet Hurts against this Bucs rush defense but there's a real chance for the Eagles this Sunday. If the weather conditions hold true for what is expected the Tampa passing game may struggle a bit with the heavy winds. I have faith in Tom Brady still but the game flow and Hurts' knack for scoring this season can't be ignored. He led all quarterbacks with 10 rushing scores this season. He's had 22 carries in the red zone more than any other Eagle running back. He played in four games against top-ten rush defenses and he scored against three of them. When these two teams squared off back in Week 6, Hurts scored twice. The Bucs allowed the fourth-most rushing yards on the season to opposing quarterbacks. These odds are simply a great value that can't be ignored on Sunday.
CeeDee Lamb (+175)
The Cowboys and 49ers Wild Card game has the highest total posted of any across Wild Card weekend. To get Lamb at this price is a steal. Dallas ranks second in pace of play this season and is the fastest remaining team in the playoffs, meaning more plays and more scoring opportunities. The Cowboys are the fourth-most pass-heavy red zone offense in the NFL. Lamb paced the Cowboys in targets in the regular season. He hasn't scored since back in Week 10 but that is set to change on Sunday! The 49ers corners, specifically Josh Norman and K'Waun Williams are in for a long day against Lamb and our next pick!
Cedrick Wilson (+260)
We wouldn't be talking about Wilson if Michael Gallup didn't go down with a torn ACL but here we are. All Wilson has done since stepping into the third wide receiver spot for the Cowboys is score in all six games that Gallup didn't play in or left with an injury this season. Lamb is no doubt the alpha of this Cowboys passing attack but Wilson provides big-play ability and is due for another significant target share. San Francisco has allowed the fourth-most yards per deep-pass attempt in the NFL this season. Wilson caught 11 passes on 12 targets and scored three touchdowns in the last two games of the season. I think these odds are great, given the high expected Cowboys team total and the poor 49ers secondary.
