Monday Night Football Los Angeles Rams vs Arizona Cardinals Best Bet: Trust The Better Coach
Monday night football will feature a pair of NFC West Rivals as the Los Angeles Rams will play host to the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams come into this game tonight as a three-point and a half-point favorite. These teams split their regular-season meetings, and this third game will be the most pivotal of all.
There are a number of headlines in this game, but perhaps the most intriguing is the narrative of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. Stafford has had a decorated career, but his kryptonite has been winning the big game. The excuse for years for Stafford was that his team was not talented enough to win and to be fair, he did have some bad teams on the Detriot Lions.
Stafford was traded for in a large package deal that included Jared Goff and a number of draft picks. The Rams want to see this move pay off tonight when the lights are bright. The Cardinals started this season as the NFL's hottest team, but they got cold at the worst time in the season. Injuries also hurt this Cardinals team, most notably their star wide receiver Deandre Hopkins who the Cardinals have struggled without. Star defensive end JJ Watt has also been out of the lineup, but he is expected to return tonight. Kyler Murray will need to step up and answer the call for the Cardinals tonight in order to pull off the upset. The play of Murray has been affected heavily by the Hopkins injury as we have seen his numbers go down in the absence. The Cardinals will need to be clicking tonight at every position in order to pull off the upset.
The play I will be backing in this game will be the LA Rams on the spread at -3.5. Here is why I love the Rams in this spot tonight. I said this when I took the 49ers over the Cowboys, and it showed up throughout the game. The coaching difference here is pretty significant to me, I have been critical of Kliff Kingsbury, and I believe he will be outcoached tonight by one of the best in the business in Sean Mcvay.
I believe he will make a couple of mistakes in this one, and similar to the Cowboys, the Cardinals will be the less prepared team. The second reason is I do trust Stafford more than Murray. I know the turnovers have been an issue with Stafford, but when the time has come, he has statistically been one of the quarterbacks in the second half all season. I think the experience in the league of Stafford shows up in this spot, and Kyle with no Hopkins does not strike fear into me. The final reason is very simple, but I think this is just the more talented football team on both sides of the football. The playmakers that the Rams have on offense paired with this team's defensive ability makes this pick pretty simple to me, especially being the home team. I am willing to fade the Cardinals tonight and think the Rams roll in this spot at home.
