Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers Pick: Will Aaron Rodgers Lead the Packers Back to the NFC Championship?

The NFC Divisional round will kick off on Saturday night, and what a battle we have ahead of us. The San Francisco 49ers will travel into the frigid Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. I am fired up for this football game as a fan because these are two well-coached physical teams who are playing prime time on a Saturday night.

Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers Prediction

The 49ers are fresh off their upset win over the Dallas Cowboys, but they will have their toughest task to date in Green Bay. The Packers are off a nice bye week, so they get some rest, and they get a lot of players back from the Injured Reserve. The 49ers come into this game with some questions at some pretty key positions. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been dealing with multiple injuries this week, including one being his shoulder. He is said to go in this game but certainly will not be anywhere near one hundred percent. The 49er's best two defensive players have also been dealing with injuries all week in Nick Bosa and Fred Warner. I do think both play, but again, something to keep your eye on because both will not be near one hundred percent. These teams played earlier in the season in San Francisco, and the Packers came away with a win on a last-second field goal by Mason Crosby.

The play I am taking in this one is going to be my first really square pick of the NFL postseason in the Green Bay Packers. Sometimes being square is the move, and while I tried to find some kind of angle on the 49ers, I simply could not. The 49ers do have a great rushing game, but I think the Green Bay game plan is pretty simple. Stack the box and make Jimmy Garoppolo beat you in this game. I think the Packers trust their corners in many one-on-one ones, and they try and make the 49ers one-dimensional in this spot. I also think the game script is going to force the 49ers to throw because they will be trailing most of the game.

I simply can not fade Aaron Rodgers. He will be the heavy favorite to win another MVP this season, and for a good reason. Rodgers has been doing his thing all year long, and a week off may do the veteran some good. This Packers team getting that bye and getting guys back is a massive factor in this game this time of year. I think the weather also favors the Packers here facing a west coast team. The 49ers having so many guys injured makes me stay away from them in this spot, along with the other reasons mentioned. I think the Packers roll in this one at home and cover the -5.5!
