Tennessee Titans vs. Cincinnati Bengals Prediction

The Titans had an odd path to the one seed as they seemed to win the games they were not supposed to and lose the ones we thought would be easy, including a loss to the New York Jets. It is not often that a number one seed also has a loss to the Jets, but here we are.

The Cincinnati Bengals come into this one fresh off their first playoff win since the text message was invented. Yes, you are reading that right; it has been a long time of suffering and pain for the Bengals fans, but a win on Saturday would ease the pain of the last few decades for the Cincinnati faithful. Joe Burrow has taken the league by storm, and a lot of people forget this is a guy coming off a season-ending injury. The play of Burrow has been outstanding, and he looked unfazed in his first playoff game with a win over the Raiders. The Bengals will need the stellar play of Burrow to continue on Saturday afternoon, facing a well-rested home team in the Tennessee Titans. The Titans come into this game as a short three-and-a-half-point hometown favorite.

The play I am going with in this game is going to be to back the home team in the Tennesee Titans, and here is why. I think Mike Vrabel has been the best coach in the NFL this season. When you look at the Titan's defense, you do not see the star names, so some get fooled, but this is an outstanding group on the defensive side of the football. Joe Burrow was one of the most sacked quarterbacks in all of the NFL, and Vrabel will be well prepared to throw a lot of blitzes in the direction of Burrow. I think this Titans defensive line eats up the Bengal's offensive line and gets to the quarterback early and often.

Another reason I love the Titans here is the best running back in the NFL in Derrick Henry is set to return. This guy is a game-changer on so many levels, and facing a Bengals defense who has shown they can struggle against the run, he will have his way in this game. The Titans with Henry will play a physical brand of football that I'm not sure the Bengals will be able to keep up with.

The final reason is the Bengals are somewhat banged up in this spot. They are missing two starting defensive linemen, which will play a huge role in this game. Tannehill and Burrow rank one and two in getting sacked, but with these studs out of the lineup for the Bengals, I do not think they will have the same success rushing the passer. I love the fact we can get the home team on the short line.
