Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers NFC Championship Player Prop Pick: Fade Cam Akers

Rams and 49ers are like a movie. This is Part 3 today, but this is the most important of the three-game series, that's for sure. The winner goes to the Super Bowl, and whatever happened before doesn't matter today. We will look at the Rams running game today and see why it's always good to go under on them running the ball.

Cam Akers Under 60.5 Rushing Yards (-110) (Bet $110 to Win $100)

The Rams paid a lot to bring Matthew Stafford to Los Angeles. He has had an up and down year, but clearly, he has been good enough to get them to the brink of the Super Bowl. The Rams are built on passing with Kupp, the triple crown winner, Woods before he got hurt, Odell, Higbee, Jefferson, etc. This team was the #5 passing offense as they threw for over 273 yards. The Rams running game hasn't been the same all year because of injuries and lack of consistency. They started with Darell Henderson, and they went with Sony Michel, and now it's Cam Akers. In the whole regular season, Akers had 3 yards on five carries. He has gotten most of the carries in the playoffs, getting 55 and 48 yards. Today we need him to get less than 60.5 yards rushing so we can win.

The Rams have been up and down recently as they ran for 73 last week and 140 the week before, and going further back, they had 64 and 73 for the previous two but before that had 159 and 123. They are too inconsistent, and that is why they were the 25th rushing this year, getting just less than 100 yards a game. With Akers, Michel, and Stafford all getting carries and Jefferson and other trick plays with receivers. We feel a top 10 defense that gave up less than 100 yards will hold them again to that number. We can also go back and look and see that the Rams only got 64 and 52 yards in the previous matchups this year.

With Akers having fumbling issues and the Rams haven't run for more than 64 against the 49ers all year, we feel confident that Akers will not get 60.5 since he hasn't all year. Therefore, we are taking the under 60.5 rushing prop on Cam Akers as we expect him to stay in the 40-50 range at best.
