Super Bowl 2022 Prediction: Should We Back the Rams or Bengals Against the Spread?

It's honestly somewhat crazy to be writing this article without the Chiefs as part of it. If I'm being honest, I already had a couple Chiefs plays I wanted to go towards, but we shall adjust with the Bengals prevailing. The Rams finally cured their fear of Kyle Shanahan and pulled off a close win against the 49ers. The Rams open at -4 (-105), with some early movement around -3.5 in a couple spots.

One of the biggest things we are gonna have to look out for this week is the Rams run defense. While they were not able to get a lot of pressure on Jimmy G, until the last play of the game at least, the rushing defense was very good. Both Mitchell and Samuel got plenty of opportunities on first down, but couldn't get anything going against that dominant line. We saw how much the Bengals have used Mixon thus far in the playoffs, and I think it's safe to pencil him into at least 16-17 carries.

Something to look out for with the Rams is how they handle rookie sensation Ja’Marr Chase. We saw the Chiefs constantly double him with safety help, like they did with Diggs the week prior, and it worked very well. The Rams have superstar corner Jalen Ramsey but haven't quite used him in the shadow role this year. I'm getting the impression that Ramsey is gonna be tasked with plenty of Chase, it will be a premier matchup to follow.

Las Angeles Rams vs. Cincinnati Bengals Super Bowl LVI Pick

Overall, there is still plenty of time and line movement to come. My early spread pick would be Rams -4. While I think there's a chance a lot of Bengals public money will come in, giving us possibly a better number, I think the Rams have multiple advantages on the lines and in the coaching staff. I think its gonna be hard to get rid of the Bengals, but I do think Aaron Donald and the Rams are currently the better team.
