Super Bowl 2022 Prediction and Pick: How Many Touchdowns Can We Expect in the Super Bowl?

For most bettors, the Super Bowl often brings somewhat of a conundrum with hundreds of props and betting categories to choose from when looking where to wager your money. One such category, total touchdowns, offers a straightforward approach to answering will there be more or fewer (over/under) touchdowns than the posted number.

Let's take a look at the number our friends over at DraftKings Sportsbook have posted, and where the value remains.

How Many Total Touchdowns Can We Expect in the Super Bowl?

Total Touchdowns: Over 5.5 @ -105 (Bet $105 to win $100)

With the totals set 48.5, 5.5 touchdowns equal out to approximately 38.5 points leaving three field goals to get us to the total of the game. Let's not overthink this one.

In a game featuring two of the most electric offenses in the league this season, I think that's exactly what we see on the field here. For the Bengals, it's scary to think Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase are just getting started in this league, following a season in which Chase became the first wide receiver since OBJ to win Offensive Rookie of the Year.

And then there's the Burrow-Joe Mixon connection. In the 16 games, they played together this regular season, the duo combined for 2.94 touchdowns per game.

As for the home Rams, the offense has turned into a force that speaks for itself. With new quarterback Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay's true potential as a head coach appears to be taking shape, as well.

Behind much of the success has been wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who took the NFL's receiving triple crown this year leading the league in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. Add in the fact that through their three postseason games this season the Rams have averaged three touchdowns per game, and I'm calling for no less than six total touchdowns in this game.
