Super Bowl 2022 Prediction: Will Matthew Stafford throw an Interception?
I’ll start this off by saying I am a big fan of Matthew Stafford. I am a lifelong Lions fan and he has given his all to the franchise I root for and I’m glad to see him have success after the trade. With that being said, he is still a turnover machine. I don’t think he’s the type of player to be hesitant or scared in big games so I’m not taking that approach but the data would back this up.

Trevor Lawrence lead the NFL in interceptions thrown and he was a weekly laughing stock on Twitter. But very quietly he was actually tied with someone else, that person is Matthew Stafford. Both passers finished the regular season with 17 picks. Over his last seven games including playoffs we have seen him throw nine interceptions.
Stafford is a great quarterback but he has tendencies to have miscommunications with receivers quite often. Even last week vs San Francisco they should have turned him over late in the fourth quarter there but the defender dropped the ball.

The Bengals not only have an INT in four straight games but they also have five interceptions in the past 2 playoff games including two against the magical Patrick Mahomes. If you can pick off Mahomes twice and Tannehill three times I have faith they can intercept the leader of turnovers at the position to just a measly one. I don’t see either team blowing out the other so I imagine throwing to be a viable option for the Rams in all four quarters keeping our bet alive if it hasn’t already hit.
In theory, the Rams receivers should be unguardable if you look at the recievier vs corner matchups but Stafford is good for a few misthrows a game, I know all too well. This bet is -140 so although it’s the big game we are only going to play it for one unit. Getting a bet on the leader of interceptions to throw an interception against a defense that is averaging 2 per game in the playoffs is a no-brainer for me.
