ANALYSIS

Week 2 TNF Chargers vs Chiefs Best Bets, Player Props, and Game Pick

The Chiefs kicked off their season with a resounding win over the Cardinals on the road by a score of 44-21 as Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense was cooking. Mahomes threw for a total of 360 yards and five touchdowns as KC totaled just under 500 yards of total offense in their blowout victory. Their defense also looked very impressive. Even though KC did not force any turnovers, they held the Cardinals to under 300 total yards of offense and most of those yards came in garbage time in the fourth quarter as the game was already well in hand for the Chiefs.

Thursday Night Football Chiefs vs Chargers Prediction

Now the Chiefs' defense will have a much bigger test against the Chargers and their own star-studded quarterback, Justin Herbert. Herbert also played extremely well in week 1 against the Raiders as he threw for 279 yards, three touchdowns, and only had eight total incompletions on the day. He will be without one of his top targets for this game, however, as Keenan Allen suffered a hamstring injury during their week 1 victory and has now been ruled out for this Thursday Night showdown.

Allen has been a very productive receiver for years in the Chargers offense and has been the safety blanket for that offense for nearly a decade. Allen was outgained by Mike Williams last year by a slim margin of eight yards, so he wasn't their leading receiver but was obviously Herbert's favorite target as he led the team in targets by a wide margin (28) and was their leading receiver in week 1. Allen's loss is a big one, but the Chargers showed they have multiple guys who can step in and make up for the loss of Allen's production.

Deandre Carter and Joshua Palmer got some solid runs in Allen's absence and combined for seven receptions and 69 yards, with the bulk of those yards coming from Carter who appears to be more of a downfield threat. In addition to Allen's injury, the Chargers are dealing with another key injury to cornerback JC Jackson. Jackson is a very solid cornerback and if he is unable to go, it leaves a lot of questions on how much depth the Chargers will have in the secondary. Even if he is able to play, he will not be at 100% which should give the Chiefs' offense even more of an added edge as if they needed another one already. The Chargers gave up a lot of yards through the air in week 1 as Derek Carr was able to throw for 295 yards but he did throw three interceptions and was under duress all day as he was sacked six times.

The Charger's defense is primed for a great season with Derwin James, Joey Bosa, and new addition Khalil Mack all hunting sacks/turnovers. The Chargers certainly have a number of all pros on their defense, but will they be able to get pressure on Mahomes? The Chiefs' offensive line looked fantastic in week 1 as they did not allow a single sack and gave Mahomes time to throw all day. I think the Chargers will be able to muster some pressure on Mahomes, but I fully expect Mahomes to have ample time in the pocket tonight to find receivers behind the strong play of his offensive line.

With that being said, I am rolling with Chiefs -4 at -104 for 1U as I believe Mahomes finally breaks this string of tough luck against the Chargers. I will also be playing a few other PROPS for this game as well which I have listed below: All three are to win 1U
