The Steelers and Browns both come into Week 3 with a 1-1 record, but it is the Browns who are the lucky ones to be where they are. Can they put together a solid home performance tonight against Pittsburgh on Thursday Night Football?

Cleveland Browns vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Prediction

The Browns are sitting at 1-1 after they nearly blew the game to Carolina in Week 1 when they were saved by kicker Cade York on a long field goal attempt. Then the Browns inexplicably blew another late two-touchdown lead to the Jets in Week 2 as they were up by 13 points with less than 2 minutes to play.

For some reason, Nick Chubb decided to score from 12 yards out which opened a very small window for the Jets to get the ball back and make a comeback. The Jets had used all three timeouts and only the 2-minute warning could stop the clock. The Browns would need to run one play before the 2-minute warning and then could likely run out the game clock with a few Quarterback kneel downs. Then attempt a field goal to make it a two-possession game with little time left. There would have been only about 30 seconds left with the Browns up 10 (Assuming York makes the short FG attempt) with the Jets needing two scores and having no timeouts. That scenario seems extremely less likely than what the Browns decided to do. It obviously did not work out for the Browns as they then allowed a long touchdown pass. Then allowed the Jets to recover the onside kick. Then allowed the game-winning score with very little time left on the clock which ended up being an embarrassing and quite frankly jaw-dropping loss to the lowly Jets.

Now the Browns have to turn around on a short week and get prepared for a Steelers defense that has played extremely well in the early going. Yes, the Steelers defense will be without TJ Watt, but they still played very well in his absence last week against New England as they held the Patriots to 17 points and made a lot of big plays. The game-changing touchdown in that game was also set up by a muffed punt by former patriot, Gunner Olszewski which gave the Patriots a short field on the Steelers 10-yard line that they would eventually punch into the end zone for the game-deciding score.

On the other side, the Browns defense was heralded as the league's next stout defense coming into the year, but they have not lived up to that hype. Against Carolina, an extremely anemic offense, they allowed 24 points, and then against the lowly Jets, who could barely muster a touchdown against Baltimore in the prior week, allowed 402 yards including 2 touchdowns in the final 2 minutes to lose the game.

I expect this Steeler offense to play better and should be able to move the ball against what has appeared to be an inconsistent Browns defense. If the Steelers can move the ball and control field position in this game while refraining from any costly turnovers, I think they can keep this close and possibly win the game straight up. With that being said, I am rolling with the Steelers +4.5 at -107 for 1U as I think Pittsburgh will keep this game within a Field Goal.
