Both the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos have under succeeded in their three games this season, even if the Broncos are 2-1. Which team will break their spell? Kade Kimble takes an early look at the matchup and odds for the Week 4 matchup.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Denver Broncos Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Derek Carr, Raiders Get Going Offensively?

The Las Vegas Raiders remain winless through three games this season. They’ve lost each game within a touchdown, oftentimes shooting themselves in the foot. In their week two matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, the Raiders essentially had the game won but allowed a comeback that ended with the Cardinals scoring off a Raider fumble in overtime.

The Broncos haven’t looked particularly great, either, but they’ve found a way to win in two of their three games. All low-scoring games, their only loss has come to Russell Wilson’s former team in Week 1.

The two teams’ stories this season aren’t being told by the score, as the Raiders have potentially been playing better despite not winning yet this season.

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Denver Broncos prediction

Looking at this quarterback matchup, it seems as if Derek Carr has played a better season thus far, leading his team into the end zone six times through the air, while Wilson has only thrown two touchdowns. We know Wilson is capable of more, and he’s got the weapons, they’ve just yet to put it together to find success.

The worst part about Wilson underperforming this season is that it’s come against struggling teams. The Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans are and have been predicted to be bottom feeders in the league this season, and Wilson should have torched them, which he didn’t. Hopefully, Wilson just needed time to click with a new team and they’ll look like the team they were expected to be. Wilson will be facing a great front line in the Raiders' defense and will have to play a quick, solid game if he wants to find success.

The Raiders' lack of success looks worse than it is, as they’ve yet to win a game through three matchups. They’ve played much better teams than the Broncos have faced, and each game has been decided by less than a touchdown and usually in a dramatic fashion. They lost to the Cardinals by a scoop and scored in overtime after giving up a comeback. They then lost to a missed two-point conversion after almost completing a comeback.

Even if it’s been against bad teams, the Broncos' defense is top-tier and should be able to stop almost any team in the league. They’ve been great at defending both the air and the ground game.

We’ve seen Derek Carr’s ability throughout his career and know he can play much better than he has, especially with his star-studded receiving corps. If their defense can slow down the Broncos, which no team has had a great challenge doing yet, they’ll be in a good position to let the offense go win their first game.

If the Raiders' defense gets to leave the game up to the offense though, there’s no guarantee that they’ll find success. The o/u for total points in this game is set at 45.5 points, which seems high given the circumstances.

Despite not winning a game, the Raiders come into this matchup as 2.5-point favorites. The pick for the Raiders as favorites doesn’t feel safe, as this game could be decided either way in a close game, and could easily come down to a game-winning field goal.

Since neither offense has seemed to find their rhythm, and both teams have solid defenses, there’s a high possibility this game ends up becoming a low-scoring affair, which the Broncos have seen all season.
