We have had to suffer through the 49ers and the Broncos dud of a defensive, mistake-prone game. We suffered through the Giants and Cowboys who somehow learned how to score after the half but the games haven't been that exciting in primetime. Tonight we finally get some excitement with the best team in the AFC, the last remaining undefeated Miami Dolphins, and the Super Bowl runner-up Bengals who need this win to get to .500 or they will be the playoff runner-ups this year. Sadly, we have to watch on Amazon Prime which isn't as good as last year's Thursday night stations, and the announcers just say paying them what they are this year doesn't make them any better. Let's delve into this game a little further and see why we recommend a teaser for tonight's game.
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Miami Dolphins Prediction
Who will win this game? The 1-2 Bengals or the 3-0 Dolphins? Well, we will take that element out of play here because we are doing a teaser tonight. We will make the Bengals a 3.5-point dog versus a 3.5-point favorite because if I told you that you could get the Bengals +3.5 tonight would you pass that up? The answer 100 out of 100 times is no because everyone would take Cincy +3.5 at home that's why that's not the line in your book or mine.
The Dolphins have played their enemies in the East the Patriots. They pulled off the miracle of miracles against the Ravens in a fourth quarter we may never see again, and now they just beat the Super Bowl favorites and got to see one of my favorite new videos of the Bills coaching staff trying to be like Tom Brady in the booth. This schedule has been brutal and I don't think Miami even thought they would be 3-0 to start the season. The Dolphins do have some injuries and last week their offense took a step backward but they still have two of the fastest receivers on the field (Waddle and Hill) and they are playing with the best QB stat-wise currently.
What separates this game for us is we have a system or situation whatever you want to call it that has won the last 12 times in a row and we don't see a reason to fade it (it's against the Dolphins) The bottom line is we would make this line 3 or probably 2.5 and pay the same price in juice as a teaser so why pay for- 2.5 or -3 when we can pay for +3.5?
We spoke about the side and we won't mess with our system as we make the Bengals a dog now let's look at the total. The number 42 is huge in baseball (Jackie) and football totals. Tonight we can make this total less than 42. How can we pass that up? The Bengals have gone under every game this year but don't forget they have played against three backup Quarterbacks. (Yes Trubisky is a backup in our eyes in his first game as a starter in Pittsburgh off a year he didn't play). Those three teams still averaged over 17 points a game. So we are asking the Dolphins who are averaging about 27.7 a game to score less than their average by about a touchdown. I think we can all live with that. The Bengals who should win just need to get us a field goal more than they have averaged this year and we feel confident they can.
The Dolphins defense has to be worn out more than they have been all year after being on the field for 90 yes 90 plays and 40 minutes and 40 seconds against the Bills. They now have to play on a short week and travel. Could this be a worse spot for their defense which is 31st in total yards this year anyways? Also, check out the injury list. It's as long as you will see and most will play but clearly not 100% and the Bengals offense did click finally even though it was against the Jets and the Dolphins offense can literally score on one play as they have a few times already this year.
The bottom line is we can get both the side and the total at a better number so why pass it up? We are going to take the Bengals +3.5 and over 41 available at DraftKings as we write this article. If you are getting 41.5 that's fine as well as we are not worried about either the side or total in the teaser line, we are just playing the numbers and expect this game to get into the 50's. Bengals +3.5 over 41 for a 7-point teaser at -130. Let's finally get a prime-time game we can enjoy to end the first month of the NFL season.
Bengals vs. Dolphins Pick
- Bengals +3.5/over 41.5 (-130) (Bet $130 to Win $100)
