Week 6 of the NFL season kicks off with an NFC matchup featuring two teams that have had disappointing starts to 2022. The Bears are 2-3, and the Commanders are off to a 1-4 start. Justin Fields has shown signs of improvement, but the play-calling in Chicago has held him back from unleashing his potential. This game has the lowest total in Week 6, so we must temper expectations. The bad news is since 2020, in games with a total of 38 or lower, the under is 7-1. Let's hope that trend changes tonight.

After the Travis Kelce show on Monday night, we dropped a few units as he refused to let one of his teammates find the end zone. Selfish behavior, if you ask me. Our reads were correct all over the board, but some bad luck followed us in Week 5. We are over one month into the season, and we're starting to build up data and info on every NFL team we can use with our NFL picks. As usual, we will play this game smart. We're not going to shoot blindly and throw noodles at the wall to see if they stick just because a player's odds are long. The research I've done will always back up the reasoning behind my anytime touchdown scorer picks.

As the conductor of the anytime touchdown train, I've once again narrowed down the best options for anytime touchdown scorers for you here on Thursday Night Football in Week 6. Let's get to the best anytime touchdown picks for the Bears vs. Commanders. Best of luck if you tail!

TNF Bears vs. Commanders Best Anytime TD Scorer Picks

Darnell Mooney (+350) (Bet $100 to Win $350)

*Odds Available at PointsBet*

Washington allowed nine passing touchdowns in Weeks 2-4. Fields has seen an uptick in pass attempts over the last two weeks, which is hopefully a sign of things to come. The biggest issue has been catchable passes for Mooney. There were two instances last week in which Mooney missed scoring, so the opportunity is undoubtedly there. Over the last two weeks, Mooney had a team-high ten targets and a 28% target share. He runs most of his routes from the slot, and Washington has been quite generous to receivers from the slot. Christian Kirk 6 catches for 117 yards, Amon-Ra 9 catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns, and Lamb went for 97 yards on six grabs and added a score. Mooney has Justin Fields throwing him the ball, but we have seen these two connect in the past. With a game with so much expected offensive futility, I'm fine opting for the alpha in the Bears passing attack despite the horrific passing volume for the Bears.

Curtis Samuel (+275) (Bet $100 to Win $275)

*Odds Available at Bet365*

Want a wild stat? Wentz is one of just four quarterbacks in the NFL with 1,375 or more passing yards and ten or more passing touchdowns through the first five weeks. Those other three quarterbacks are Josh Allen, Justin Herbert, and Patrick Mahomes! Wentz is top five in pass attempts as well. The Bears have deployed a run-heavy scheme which is why their opponents passing stats are lower than expected. The truth is they've faced some shotty quarterbacks through the first five weeks. They've allowed just four passing scores, but they faced Trey Lance in a deluge, Davis Mills, and Daniel Jones aside from Kirk and Rodgers. I considered opting for one of Washington's backs, but I've decided against it until we learn more about Brian Robinson's role. Chicago has been bad versus the run, but I'm not sure Washington plays with a lead tonight. Chicago allows the 11th-highest yards per target and the sixth-highest catch rate at 68%. Samuel hasn't recorded a carry since Week 3, but that's a great wrinkle of an opportunity against a Bears defense, allowing the second-most rushing yards and the third-most rushing scores this season. Samuel has the most targets of any Commander, with 45. He hasn't scored since Week 2, but tonight I like his chances going up against Kyler Gordon, the rookie slot corner for the Bears. In a game that expects to provide minimal scoring opportunities, I'm fine rolling the dice with the team's two most-targetted players.
